Help ideas? for simple photo storage app (not looking to hide)

I take a lot of pictures, I bring them to my cpu, edit and then I want to store them, so I put them back in the thumbnails folder because that's where the HTC stores them in the first place. But they don't show up. I can't find them. Not in the stock gallery app, not in the stock photo app.

I'm tearing out my hair because I just want ONE app that will allow me to access my images, an app where I can create folders and look at my images.

Please help because I'd like to use this camera more but I'm finding the editing tools and then the storage is very frustrating and I'm going back to my camera more and more. AND the reason I bought this was for the camera (and the phone - which IS excellent) (but camera...not so much.) (not the end of the world, but I'd like to like this device again.)

Thanks.

Thanks....where they usually end up when I use my camera isn't in the camera folder. That would be too easy. They end up in the THUMBNAILS folder in DCIM.

BUT...and this is for anyone who did the same thing - if you copy them and edit elsewhere then put them back in (and God forbid you give them a name besides 8987408765432.jpg, nothing will see them. NO app, no stock app, nothing. They will cease to exist IN that folder except they'll sit there like lox on a bagel. So far the solution is to to put them on the SD card, which I did. it's a leeeetle bit convoluted but thats the way of the world.

thank you all. If someone has a better solution, please let me know.

for where your pictures are Try 100MEDIA or Camera in the Dcim directory of your internal of external sd card.
I also like Quick Pic in the play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder&hl=en

The thumbnails should only be resized previews. That is not where your actual pictures should be.

Do you have the camera set to save to SD card? Whether on internal or SD the storage location should be DCIM/100MEDIA and DCIM/100BURST. Check for a DCIM directory on the card. If you have it set to save to SD, your internal storage 100MEDIA will be empty, but the thumbnails will still be on internal memory in the DCIM/.thumbnails folder.

edit: also the period in front of .thumbnails means it's a hidden folder, that is why the gallery does not see anything you put in there. I'm not sure of the mechanics behind the linking in HTC's code, but changing the name would probably mess with how the gallery finds the preview files.

The gallery should find photos no matter where you store them, as long as the directory is not hidden. I just make a directory called pictures and add sub directories to organize.

Thanks Chief, been taking care of a suddenly sick pooch, so I havne't been checking my mail. I appreciate these tips. And I will apply them.
