Root if i S-OFF

not really
if s-off goes badly wrong its a dead phone (wont even boot) but its extremely rare

other than that the only things that can go wrong is losing recovery or corrupting the rom
its very easy though

you cannot use alpharev with gingerbread as its aosp

you will need to backup gingervillain
wipe device
install a sense based rom
run s-off
restore backup

Alpharev have an irc channel you can ask for advice if you hit a problem, as I'm sure you've read. Doubt it's a 24 hour service, so perhaps best not to do this at 3am.

The main thing is not to interrupt the process, and if you think something's gone wrong don't reboot the phone while waiting for advice. But as Rastaman says, although in principle it can brick your phone (because of the area that is being modified), I couldn't find any reports of people actually doing this. Checking the md5 of the downloaded file is a vital precaution though.

Corrupting the ROM isn't a problem if you've temporarily installed a Sense ROM for the process. If there is a problem with recovery, the good thing about being S-Off is that you can easily install a new copy. :)

I've just read through the guide and it says hboot 0.80 but I'm 0. 93 will this matter, or have you all done it with hboot 0. 93?
