If you used your SIM to get contacts between old phone & Desire

i exported them to file and imported that file to gmail much easier and quicker

Turn on Bluetooth
Pair devices
On old phone contacts>mark all then select send business card via bluetooth
Ok message on desire

Job done

I couldnt see any way of doing it from my iPhone.

so i exported the contacts from windows live mail as a .csv file and imported it into gmail on the pc. The desire then synced the contacts from gmail.

I'd already sold my old phone (when moving to my hero), the hero to desire switch was crazy easy!
