If your Optimus V is working properly talk about it.

Got my V about a week ago. First smartphone (previously used an ipod touch for everything), and I am impressed. Got a 3600 mAh battery overclocked to 764Mhz, Harmonia, Zeam launcher, touchpal keyboard. I've got over 90 hours between charges with moderate use (games, going in and out of service, notifications on, music, browsing, etc). With the extended battery, it is a little fat, but it is a very VERY capable phone. Looked at the optimus slider and triumph seriously, but both fall short. The Triumph has gps problems and a crappy battery, while the optimus slider doesn't have anywhere near the support (roms, kernals, etc). Best pre-paid android phone money can buy, and luckily doesn't take much.

I do miss my ipod's 3.5" screen, but really not huge deal considering how much more this thing does :D
 
First smartphone here, too. FINALLY got to PLAY for about 3 hours today. Haven't activated it yet, but have already had my hundred bucks worth of fun playing with free WI FI. Gawd, I LOVE this phone!
 
Plugged in 90% of the time, with WiFi tethering going 90% of the time, screen on 90% of the time, only extra care is a small 12v PC fan behind its stand to keep the temps under 100F, like a rock.

VM network, like fools gold.

Still only paying $25 mo for unlimited, like priceless

I've had my Optimus V for a year now and i've only experienced lagging while txting, which does not really bother me. Memory is ok...still working with standard memory. Battery life is decent, I usually only charge it once a day. So I gotta say this has to be virgin mobiles best smartphone out so far....it has my vote....lol
 
I've had very few problems with my (not rooted) LG Optimus V and I've had it practically since they first came out! Once in a while something glitchy may happy, but pretty much 99% of the time, it's because of something I did or failed to do. (Like using a charger that doesn't really belong with it, or trying to switch out of an app before it's loaded, etc.). And none of the glitchy things have done any permanent damage.

Voice runs smoothly, I can hear everyone clearly and they can hear me, no problems. The screen is still scratch-free and clear and runs as it did the day I got it. I'm only on my second screen protector! My last phone went through about ten of those! This is mainly because the Optimus touch screen is so incredibly sensitive that I barely need to glide a finger over it to get it to do what I want.

Very durable! I never did get around to buying a protective case for it, and I confess, I have dropped mine numerous times. I've spilled liquids on it, lost it, dropped it on hard floors and behind furniture. I'm clumsy! A couple times I was positive I would have at least caused some external damage. I was shocked that there was none! It runs and looks brand new still to this day! No dings at all. Though I still think people should use protective cases, including me. :p

I'd consider going with the slider version, but I've gotten so reliant on Swype that there is just NO going back! :D So it would be pointless to get.

Finding new apps and things to do with my phone happens on a near weekly basis if I'm putting time into it at all, and I have to say it's the best money I've ever spent on a phone or a phone service for that matter. There are people with newer phones than me and on more expensive plans, who are getting less and having more frustrations than I am. Seriously, I recommend this phone to pretty much everyone.
 
Mine is rooted and hacked beyond recognition, but from a hardware standpoint my experience has been almost exactly as described above. By all rights, my poor little V should be toast, but it keeps trooping right along.

That's because you take care of it. Not everyone is as conscientious as you about maintaining their phone. I wish I had taken photos of the iPhone I rebuilt yesterday, it was spectacular! It had been used as a projectile weapon in a bar fight. How drunk do you have to be to throw a $500 phone!?

Ya, I do, and thank you for calling me conscientious instead of obsessive. :o:D

I know that was a rhetorical question, but I'd imagine some people have the luxury of not caring all that much about breaking expensive stuff... Would've liked to have seen those pics, though, just for the lolz. ;)
 
Love my optimus v. I owned the phone for about 3 hours and then rooted it. I'm using the harmonia 2 rom and adw launcher. I owned the Evo prior to this phone and other then missing the larger screen I can't say that I'm to upset about the downgrade... considering the money I'm saving with the plan its more of an upgrade. Would recommend this phone to anyone.

I do have one shot of the work in progress, but the new screen is already in, all you can really see is the brushed aluminum battery cover, and the exposed mainboard from the back. I'm fixing another next week, I promise some photos this time.
 
... well, a little over, actually! :D

I bought this phone last year to replace the slow-as-molasses Samsung Intercept. At first I missed having a physical keyboard. I ran it stock until the middle of November, 2011. That's when I looked into rooting the phone. Several videos from a youtube poster named mstechify finally convinced me to take the plunge into rooting the phone.

Since then, I have tried several roms. I've tried Bobz, LeslieAnn's Harmonias, RedBaron2005's Overdrives, and mrg666's roms. I'm currently on mrg666's build and IHO based kernel.

I've experienced some issues with both stock and custom ROMs. The custom roms tend to handle force closes better; I can usually hit Wait, and not have to reboot. I love mrg's kernel and system tweaks, as his ROM/kernel is the leanest and most efficient setup I've used IMHO. (Leslieann's GB IHO isn't too bad, especially if you like a more stock setup.) With the custom roms, games run faster (due to effective overclocking), gps is more usable (if not the fastest), and wifi/3g is as good as it gets with this phone.

Battery life is definitely better with the custom roms I've used, esp. mrg's.

If you're sitting around reading this, and looking for a good, inexpensive Android phone, I would recommend this one. The only caveat I have is the small screen; this might be a problem for visually impaired folks. I am looking to move to a new phone in a few months... looking at either a Optimus Elite, or a HTC One V (if and when VM gets it out). If not, I might jump ship to Boost, and grab their HTC Evo Design 4G. I was considering the HTC Evo V, but I'm not really interested in the 3D camera feature. It seems to be a wasted feature for me, but others may love it.
