i must say.. i was impressed with this app,i'm hard to understand sometimes and after about 10 questions she only misunderstood 1 word i said... i said cat,she thought i said pants.

I've heard a few similar reactions about Siri on the 4S. It's just a gimmecky thing for Apple commercials and once people use it for about a week, they barely ever use it again.

It may be untrue for a few consumers, but still, I can't see myself using an assistant app like this constantly. Unless they make me called Alfred where you have to speak in Christian Bale's raspy Batman voice to get it to work. Because that would be awesome.

I mostly use it when I'm driving lol

Like if I need directions somewhere.

Speaktoit Assistant is also a pretty useful and powerful alternative to Siri. Does just about everything from navigate, internet search, calendar entries, text, call, and tell jokes. It also has a customizable avatar and can be named whatever you desire.

The voice also sounds like a real person, rather than the text to speech overly automated sound (Siri and Google Voice Search).

Check it out:

Have to agree with you on this one. It's been on my Galaxy Note for awhile, but for the times that I palyed with it, I have never used it for anything serious.

Just tried SpeakToIt (aka Assistant) and I can't say I was too impressed at this juncture.

I couldn't get it to make a call, open an app or find a local restaurant. Often times when it was searching the intertubes for information (e.g. Yelp) I found it froze up until it had received a response.

At least it understood "Go Away"!

Decided not to keep it for now. It's got ways to go before I could trust it.

The tests I did where in a quiet house with just the gentle hum of the AC in the background. Heaven only knows the fun I might have trying to get understood while driving my truck.

Kinda reminds me of the pain and frustration I had with OnStar way back in 2001.

I feel that apps like these have a ways to go before they become useful.

For example, there is no email integration (which may not be surprising given the plethora of email clients out there) so there's no chance of asking it to 'Read my last email from Warren Buffet'. Equally I would like to able to say 'Call my mother' but I don't see that ability coming for a while.

My concern with all these apps is that they try to out Siri Siri without actually bringing anything worthwhile to the table. To be honest if I'm going to be yabbering to my phone its not so I can ask it a joke or find out what my current weather is like.

Also made my Incredible a little wobbly - GoLauncher had problems running widgets until I stopped it from running.

If they get the voice part to work, this will probably be the best.

I use S Voice. It was leaked from the Galaxy S3 and it seems to work on the Evo V.
It works quite well but I'm still looking forward to the next version of Google Search! :)
