Well, duh, because your using it.
But that's nearly a month on the 2 1/2 year old stock battery, with the OS (Gingerbread no less) and everything still running, just sitting idle.
I use it for a white nose machine for my baby using the signal generator app. It lasts for 12+ hours playing softly with the radios and screen off. If I charge it and let it sit, it will last forever it seems like, just like Demache said. Nice.
Yeah. That's pretty impressive. I've seen the same thing in mine.

My Eris is still going strong. Passed mine on to my daughter when I upgraded because it was in better shape than hers. Will be retiring it for good at Christmas when we give her her long-awaited upgrade.

Done deal. Picked up the iPhone yesterday. They had to briefly activate it and then switched the line back to eris so I can wait until Christmas to give it to her. Felt dirty buying that phone.
I'm sure she'll be happy with it. iPhones have a lot of advantages, too. For one, the Verizon version is sim unlocked, so you can put whatever SIM you want to if you travel. *Every* phone should be that way!
hi i just found this site but ive had my eris for almost a year now got it from my uncle awhile back but i dropped it from like 6 inches in the air last night onto my bathroom floor but it still works ,though it seems since i cracked the screen it seems to run faster and anytips on making it run faster anyway i tried rooting it and it froze up

Almost had to pull the Eris out of retirement already. Hubby's Droid Pro (yuck) was acting up and was in a boot loop that he just couldn't get out of. He told me it was broken and he needs a new phone. His upgrade date is still 6 weeks away and there was no way we were paying full price for a phone -- he could use the Eris until his upgrade date. I managed to do a factory re-set on the Droid Pro that solved all his problems.
We're definitely going to keep the little guy around as a backup. I swear that Eris is indestructible. I dropped it in the toilet once, fished it out, let it dry for a couple of days and it started right up none the worse for wear.

Okay, as one of the longest holdouts, I have finally activated a different phone, and retired my Eris, after three solid years of reliable service as my only phone. As of last night, my Eris is just an alarm clock sitting next to the bed. In time I'll get it cleared and make it available for someone else to use. It's still a great little phone, and in great shape.
You'll laugh - I replaced it with... a first-gen Incredible. It's in great shape. With a snappier processor, slightly bigger screen (but not too big), and the HTC Sense goodness I enjoy so much (but rooted, of course).

I think I'm running xtrSENSE 5.x (but not really sure
). I've mostly been booting into Amon_RA's recovery (trying to make a trackball-optional version for his Nexus 1--almost there ).Has a dev even cooked one (JB ROM) up yet?

I doubt it. I think Condemned Soul was the last dev to cook up Eris ROMs and he stopped at gingerbread as far as I know.

I'm still using my Eris! I had tried a VoIP service on my work phone for a while, but it was crappy. So, back to the Eris.
Does anyone know of a stable Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean ROM for the Eris? All the ones I can find are dead links.
There were some experimental ones, but last time I checked, they were poor daily drivers (really slow, mostly, at least slower than Gingerbread). It looks like the ROM scene for the Eris has come to an almost complete halt. So Gingerbread is probably the newest usable Android build the Eris will ever see.

Thanks Demache. You've saved me a lot of fruitless hunting. Gingerbread was fine for the Eris, so no big deal.
Gingerbread is almost sort of becoming necessary (yes, I am still maintaining and keeping my Eris running, despite it not being a main device anymore). I've noticed quite a few apps I use do not run properly on 2.1 and even the modern Google Play app doesn't work on it. Not for performance issues, but because the actual apps themselves plainly do not work.
My most noticeable was Ubermusic. It runs insanely smooth (even on the Eris which is insane). It crashes as soon as you scroll in 2.1 though. So Gingerbread is pretty much there to stay on mine.

I was doing some cleaning on my server (getting rid of duplicate files etc). Guess what I found? Loads of SD card backups of my Eris. That includes tons of Nandroids that date to around mid 2010.
Its like finding a bunch of time capsules. And wanting to see what's in them.
