So after a year of my Galaxy S2 I thought i'd wait for the Galaxy S3 before buying a new phone but after seeing the Galaxy S3 i'm not sold and have just ordered a SIM free HTC One X... I had a HTC before my Galaxy S2 and to be honest I prefer them, I am sick of Samsung... The S3 doesn't look that great IMO, there are loads of silly pointless features, I am sick to death of TouchWiz (Which is why i'm now running Vanilla on my S2) but the S3 will have TW out the box, plus the build quality is terrible, all plastic. Finally it has a PenTile screen which has killed it for me as I can't stand PenTile!

So have chosen the One X, has Sense which I don't mind, no PenTile, lovely polycarbonate solid build quality and I can get it right away.

It's been a good ride with the S2 and will be keeping it still but my daily driver has changed.

I thank everyone on here for your help, you have all been awesome! :)

I thought the same but I refuse to buy any device that doesn't have expansion ability in the form of a SD card. Didn't look at the Nexus or the One for this reason alone.

I didn't get the Nexus for that very reason... But for me I will accept a phone with 16GB internal and an SD slot so I can out in my 16GB SD card or a 32GB in-built storage... In short I need more than 16GB but i'm not bothered if its all built in or using an SD card

I doubt very seriously that the build quality is bad on the GS III. I had the One X for two days before I returned it. Even with the Quad Core Tegra 3 it was nowhere near as responsive as my GS II with ICS is.

Honestly, i'm not bashing it, the build quality does feel rather cheap, more so than the the Galaxy S2... Especially the back, its less flexible but feels cheaper and I just don't like that feel.. Because of that I do I only managed to get a few minuted hands on time but as I said I wasnt too impressed right out the gate.

The OP has made his decision, so let's wish him luck and move on. Personal choice/opinion is just that.... personal. It has no bearing on anyone else.

We've got a good community here in SGS2. it's weird to think that someday, we'll all get different phones and go our own ways in these forums...unless we all conspire to get the same phone again :D

Have fun with the new device ajh!

Once you venture out of the device-specific forums into the more general areas, it's amazing how often you bump into familiar names. I'm still meeting folk I got to know back in the early HTC Hero days, almost three years ago.

+1. I've ranged much more widely since becoming a Guide, and can testify to this.

Indeed I even see one old Desire regular in this thread :)

Thanks guys :)

And HADRON I remember you from when I had my HTC Desire :D - see there's a perfect example of bumping into people again :)

Good choice, I have to agree I think sense is better than touchwiz. I was holding out for the SGS3 myself but after seeing it it's not lived up to my expectations. Don't get me wrong its probably the best phone out at the minute but not by much. It's not wowed me enough to make me buy out my remaining months on my contract.
You can't go wrong with most HTCs, my girlfriend still uses my old desire from over 2 years ago and its like nearly new still. Definitely better build quality than the Samsungs.
My SGS2 is still perfectly adequate until the next big device :)
