INCOMING! (Alpha 3)

I'm not having a problem with mine. What's going on with yours?

It flat doesn't work. When I tap it, it goes to auto brightness, and will not do any of the other brightness levels. I'll play with it, was just curious if I was the only one with an issue.

Works fine for me, when I uncheck the auto brightness box I get a slide bar to adjust the brightness manually.

There is 2D HW acceleration with webkit browsers, so it's a start.

Not on all of the web browsers. The stock Android web browser all the way up Android 2.3 was not hardware accelerated, however, it is hardware accelerated in Android 3.0+ and Android 4.0 though.

There are some third party web browsers that are hardware accelerated too. Opera Mobile and I believe, Dolphin HD, are both hardware accelerated. Additionally, some manufacturers have hardware accelerated their web browsers within their respective skins. HTC Sense and Samsung TouchWiz immediately come to mind for that matter.

"Not on all of the web browsers."

Obviously. Not all browsers are based on webkit. For example, Firefox and Opera are not.

According to the Changelog, Webkit backing store was added and Dalingrin said it provides acceleration with webkit browsers only.

Yes Opera Mobile (not mini) has provided acceleration for some time. We don't care about HC (android 3.x) since CM7 is GB (2.3) and HC will never be available now that source for ICS was released. We are months away from seeing a build for the Touchpad based on ICS.

I meant not all WebKit browsers are hardware accelerated, when I mentioned every stock Android web browser up to Android 2.3. I thought that was implied by the next sentence, but I can see how that could be potentially misconstrued. If Dalingrin added hardware acceleration support for the stock WebKit web browser for the HP TouchPad, then that is great. I look foward to that. ;)

I was only giving Android 3.0+ as an example, along with Android 4.0, for the stock WebKit based hardware accelerated web browser. I was not implying that a Honeycomb build for the HP TouchPad, or any device for that matter, would ever be built in lieu of an Ice Cream Sandwich build. By the way, the Honeycomb source was released alongside Ice Cream Sandwich. Someone could build a Honeycomb based ROM, but it would be pointless given the enhancements and the unified platform that Ice Cream Sandwich brings. :)

The webkit acceleration is specific to the Touchpad for now. The TP code hasn't merged with CyanogenMod yet.

When I said HC won't be available, I was referring to CyanogenMod again since that's going from 7.x to 9.0, skipping HC code. But, like you said, why use HC when ICS is out now and very similar. :D

I'm not talking about the area in Settings - that works fine. I'm talking about the button in the notification bar.

Anyway, I figured out how to fix it - just went into my notification bar settings, cleared all of them, exited out, then went back in and rechecked them. Started working immediately.

I had to revert to 2.1 as I was having many issues on Alpha 3. I couldn't get WiFi to connect after the tab was inactive for an hour or so and then wireless settings would constantly FC. It was extremely frustrating to say the least.

Hmm... that's odd! My TP has been functioning fairly well thus far under Alpha 3. WiFi is enabled and operating by default. I have a rule set in Tasker to turn off WiFi when the Touchpad is on the charger. Otherwise it's on and connected to one of my home SSID's

Even battery life seems to be somewhat better. With the holiday weekend I got busy with projects so the TP sad for a couple of days off the charger. On Alpha 2.1 the battery would have been nearly dead. On Alpha 3 I still had around 40% battery remaining. It might have been a fluke but time will tell I guess...

Im still having issues with wifi also, same as alpha 2.1.

My WiFi was/is spotty on 2.1, but at worst a quick reboot will fix it. With 3 I couldn't even get into wireless networks to troubleshoot. For some reason 3 made my TP feel really "sluggish" and slow compared to 2.1. I was thinking maybe doing a full wipe and starting fresh with 3 may help. I'm hoping whatever "fix" was implemented for 3 won't be included in future versions because it does not like my TP :(

I have no problems with wifi at all... I just got my tp over the weekend so my Cm7 install was fresh alpha3.. maybe that's got something to do with it.

Alpha 3 is working great for me... I have yet to lose wifi, even when toggling wifi on/off and connecting to different networks.
