Help Incorporating Droid X Text Selection into EVO

Hi, I don't know much about ROM cooking, but I was wondering how hard it is to take model specific features and incorporating them into a custom rom. I read a review of the Droid X on arstechnica.com where it is mentioned that text selection works similar to the iphone. IE you hold down and a magnifier pops up which allows you greater precision when moving your finger to select the area for the cursor to rest. I wish the Evo had a system such as this. Since I have replaced the stock keyboard with the HTC_IME modded keyboard and gotten rid of the arrows I find that I have a harder time being accurate with my finger. If this sort of magnifying system already exists, maybe as an app, could someone please let me know?
Thanks,
Kim

i got the droid x keyboard on my EVO.. there is no weird bubble option like the iphone.. that i can tell.. or maybe i just dont know how to use it..

i did find the review you speak of.. and i read it.. great review by the way.. but that option dont seem to work on my EVO.. it pops up a shortcut menu..

Hrmmm....i havent had any issues with the stock way...long press and select text then it gives you the two cursors to move.

^its not the text selection so much, as it is getting the cursor between letters or two words in the exact place you want while typing a email or a text.

no issues there either..but I downloaded an apk called htc calibrate (search google)

fixed all of my precision issues

That worked.

I need a freaking book to keep track of all these 'fixes' to make the EVO work properly. HTC really needs to get their crap together.
