Something I just thought of here. Has any Verizon phone launched without tech blogs like Engadget or BGR getting an advance unit to review? Because the only stuff out there on the web is "hands on" articles & videos from CTIA. So maybe we need to be looking for some of the tech blogs to get review units. Sound plausible?

I contacted chat support for several tech blogs 47 times in a row since I'm unemployed at the moment. On the 47th time they told me it comes out tomorrow so that must be true.

They must be following Verizon's plan. "JUST TELL HIM SOMETHING TO GET HIM TO GO AWAY!!! :p

The problem is the people who have the info and decide when it'll be released are insulated by about 7 layers of employees so they feel no rush to get it out. The problem is if they wait to long, they may lose the people they plan to seel it to to other phones or (worse for them) other carriers. Considering how hot the One series is and the fact that this will be the closest thing Verizon will have to it, they'd be wise to get something out.

Dammit, mentioning 7 layers now I want a 7 layer burrito:p

Verizon's double-data special is ending June 5. At this rate, it seems pretty likely that the DI4G won't be out before then. I hope they don't implement the no-more-unlimited-data policy at the same time!

Verizon sunsets double LTE promo June 5 | Crave - CNET

Launch of Dinc4G: June 6th. Hey, Dinc on D-Day. Yeah, that has verizon marketing idea written all over it. Pick a celebrated military holiday, and release a new phone. Where have I seen that before?

While everyone's mad about the likely $299 w/ contract price, I'm ECSTATIC that it's only $499 WITHOUT!!! I was afraid it'd be something like $650 or something...
Those prices are placeholders, and it'll probably change. No way theyre going to release this phone at 299$, theyd seriously have to be high as balls. "Hey! Lets make a dumbed down version of the one series and acknowledge that its meant to be a midrange device but charge 299$ for it!", even HTC said its a mid-range device.

Even the article said the $299 was just a placeholder and you can expect the $499 is too.

What is HTC's "high-end" device? I can change providers at will with no cancellation fees so I'll dump VZW in a heartbeat before I buy a "midrange" phone.

The Incredible 4G is a midrange phone, but a very good one at that. Much better than the flagship devices released late last year. I would dump VZW too in a heartbeat if any of the other carriers had VZW data speeds and coverage. When Sprint gets their LTE going and if they still offer the unlimited data plan, i might switch over to them.

Understood.

Seriously though, based on reviews it seems the Incredible 4G only really pales in numbers (and availability) not performance.

That could very well be possible. bigger, higher res screen = more processing power needed. Also more battery life needed. I can see the Inc 4G being snappier and having significantly better battery life than the One X. I had the OG Inc, and LOVED it. I honestly think as a total package, it was a better phone than any other I have owned on Verizon. It didn't have the best specs on paper, but something just clicked... But we won't know about the Inc 4G until it goes into service...
