The only problem with that is I read ( I believe on Droid life ) that after the Share Everything plans go into effect, they won't be subsidizing tablets anymore. I remember them saying that unless tablet retail prices drop from where they are now, who's gonna pay $900 for a Xyboard. So they appear to be spreading around the dry screwing wider than first thought.

But once Verizon goes to LTE only, their ability to restrict devices on their network drops, soon price competition will bring tablet prices with data enabled down to more reasonable prices...

I dont think you have had the experience of swapping out LTE phones on VZW yet. Just because they use sim cards doesnt mean they lose the ability to restrict phones on the network. The ESN of sim is tied to the IMEI of the device. If they dont match in the system, you arent gettong on the network. I cannot take the sim from my Rezound and put it in my daughter Revolution. It will not authenticate on the network.

I'm not sure that's true. I've heard, but haven't bothered to check, that different carriers are going to use different bands for their LTE. So a phone from Sprint won't work on VZW or vice versa unless that phone has radios for both. Again, I have no clue if that's actually true or not.

This correct. At least I know big blue wont be able roam on vzw LTE and vice versa. Not sure where Sprint and Metro fall into the puzzle though.

On Friday I'm going to go into the Verizon store and find a bit about preordering the S3 and see if I can cancel my preorder if the Dinc4G does come out next week.

I don't have much faith in VZW giving us a soft shoulder on this one.... why else would they have delayed the phone release so long? I'm sure they're trying to get us into shared plans or out of unlimited in order to get this phone... >.<

Hopefully, I'm surprised...

I've said this all along and nobody wanted to believe me...;) I just picked up an Inc 2 due to my Org Inc death last Sat. The size of this phone for sure cements the fact I know I do not want a 4.3" device or bigger. This Inc 2 at 4" is the fine line for me...

I disagree, I think theyre going to try and release one last midrange phone before the shared data plans to keep their customers happy. Most people already preordered the S3 and kept their unlimited data so I don't think theyre trying to delay any phones purposedly til after the shared data plans.

I hope you're right -- I've been holding out for this phone and feel like I'd be settling for anything else. Upgrading to an S III with the intent to resell it is tempting but I'm not sure I'd want to deal with the hassle.

Under normal circumstances you are definitely correct. But I believe when you switch phones in your 14 day trial, you return the phone & sign a new contract with the second phone. Since that would be after the 28th, you'd then be subject to the data share plans. I may call Telesales to confirm. The thing is I should be able to sell either phone for the same or more than retail price of the Incredible 4G. Either way, if they release the Inc4g after the 28th, it's still cheaper than forgoing my subsidized upgrade & buying the Inc4g retail.

If I find out anything from Telesales I'll post it here.

EDIT: Talked to a Telesales supervisor, & he confirmed that as long as you go right to another phone, you don't sign a new contract & keep your unlimited data. If you return the phone, & wait awhile before selecting another phone, you'd have to sign a new contract. I still may wait until the 22nd to see if the Inc4g drops on the 21st.

Thank you for that, this is exactly what i was thinking. I don't want to go through the hassle of reselling etc... if it happens like this and i am literally forced to get a GS3 to keep my data i'll do it. Only issue is if there is a restocking fee... anyone got an idea on that?

100% agreed....

i might just have to forget my upgrade and just keep running my orig inc. after 6 months or so start watching ebay / craigslist of used inc4g and just start buying used phones instead of going to the verizon store...

I hear you, if I had the OG Inc I might feel inclined to feel the same way but seeing as I'm running an Eris..... yeah. :o

I believe the restocking fee is like 35 bucks or something like that.

I probably won't use my upgrades anymore either. When I want a new phone I will just pay retail for it. I don't think paying retail for a phone is a big deal anyway. I am not somebody that has to get the latest and greatest every time it comes out. I have no idea how many phones Big Red has released since the Org Inc, but I never felt the need to upgrade. So if I spend $500 or so on a phone every 2-3 years, I am fine with that...

I just picked up a Inc 2 off craigslist for $50. It was only 6 months old. You can find an Inc or Inc 2 very cheap!

Meh, at this point for me it's really 4G or bust, and I want to take advantage of what may be the last time I get a phone subsidy.

Or if you call around, you can get a galaxy nexus for free new. It is an upgrade from incredible and you keep unlimited data.

That might be tempting if I can find it at that free price (any hints as to where?), although I'm not sure I want a phone with such a large form factor. At this point I feel like my fallback if the Inc4G isn't released next week (or if it fails to impress, which would surprise me) is either the Bionic (free thru VZW) or the Lucid (for the form factor).

I didn't buy it with the intention of keeping it. My Org Inc screen died and I needed a phone to get past till this Inc 4G releases. I wasn't going to buy a 4G phone outright to last me for possibly 8 days? "Hopefully"

Ya, $80 for a single person. I have my wife and I. With my Verizon Plan I currently pay after all the fees and taxes $104 for my wife and I and my plan covers everything I need. I know unless you have Verizon by my land up north you get NO cell coverage.

$104??? That's amazing. I have never seen VZW get that low for two lines.

Authorized resellers - Verizon stores. I know of 2 in different places

After reading a couple posts,I'm unclear on something. If I have a original incredible, and I upgrade using my wifes dumb phone upgrade when the inc.4G comes out.then I transfer it to my unlimited line,I should be ok right? Why are people saying they will be getting a phone on the 22nd. Why not wait till the inc4g comes out.we are soooo close.

cause if you upgrade after the 28th, no more unlimitrd data for you. Phones get released on thursdays so the 21st would be the last thursday possible to get the inc4g before the 28th. Unless you hate unlimited data.

Yup. So by preordering the S3 we can lock into our unlimited data. I'll probably preorder it Friday, and then cancel it if the Incredible comes out next week.

The way i understand this share everything plan..and how it works with the family plan, .is that after the 28th, when someone on the plan chooses to buy a subsidized phone, that person is moved into a tiered data plan...everyone else on the plan that is using the old unlimited plan will stay on that until they choose to purchase a subsidized phone.

I plan on taking some time before the 28th to have them explain to me exactly what my bill is going to be moving forward.

I have 5 people on my plan....all smartphones...and all unlimited data and text. My bill is about $260 per month....and i figure it everyone was on the shared plan it will go up to almost $350 after taxes and fees.

My line is the only one not still under contract....and i am torn between the G3, the INc 4g...or just saying F it and not having a cell phone period.

I remember back a few months ago...people were up in arms over verizon wanting to charge $2 for an online payment....and there was outrage...this is going to cost me way more than that would have cost...i want to see outrage!!

I don't see how this "Shared Plan" is suppose to help families. Back when cell phones were awesome, Parents would worry about their kids talking/texting too much and going over there allotment. Thus incurring overage charges. This is going to be the same scenario but with data. I guess those kids are going to be able to stream one movie before they run up their data.

Another rant, why brag so much about how awesome your network is (4g lte) and market it so much, if it is causing you problems?

verizon: we have the fastest network available, we are expanding 4g in X markets.

verizon: due to people consuming so much data we have moved to tiered shared plans.

Sorry guys, rant over.
