Help Incredible Camcorder issue

Okay, so I ordered a phone off of ebay, and am still waiting for a response from the seller as it is the weekend. My problem is the camcorder locks up, and I have no idea if the phone is rooted and if so not even what rom and such. I did some scoping on these forums and found alot abut this issue, but I am not accustomed to working with android and need some help learning how to fix this. Attached are some photos of my os version as well as camera and radio app versions, anything you guys could tell me would be a great help.

P.S. somehow this phone is set up on the Boost Mobile network

Will that affect my service? Cause in not even sure how mine got set up. And I'm still waiting to hear back from the guy from eBay.

Your device is running the eclair radio with the 2.2 software so that's why your camcorder is broken. Check for the app "Superuser" in your app drawer to see if you are rooted. If it's there, try loading up a root app like Drocap (screenshot app) to see if it works. It's possible, they upgraded the OS via an update.zip file unrooted to get the phone to it's current state.

I'm not sure how it's been set up to work on Boost Mobile but your options to get the camcorder working are to load the 2.2 RUU like sdrawkcab mentioned or you can flash just a newer radio (PB31IMG file on the SD card from hboot). This would require your card to be formatted to FAT32.

Flashing the entire system IMG in a similar fashion, or running the RUU will lose root (if you even have it) and will reset everthing back to stock configuration so I'm assuming you'd lose the Boost Mobile hack...I'm calling it a hack b/c I'm unfamiliar with it and figure something must have been modified to make it work with what would seem to be a Verizon chipset?

So unless you can figure out the hack's origin, I'd be careful doing much to it before making a nand backup. Get that under your belt so if anything goes south, you can at least get back to where you are now. Then, I would probably recommend upgrading the radio after that. The most widely used Froyo radio is the 7.28. That will fix the camcorder and I believe Bluetooth will be in the same boat if you use it.

Like how they avoided my wall charger woes?

How would I install their "update" without said data cable?
oh and about the bluetooth, from what I can tell it functions. the only thing I had sitting around with bluetooth on it to try it was my iPod Touch, and they don't play nice

Are "they" sending you the radio file? If so, I'd be damn wary about flashing it. Google "official radio thread" and you should get a link to here and/or XDA, a thread started by Adrynalyne. Download the 7.28 or if you want to try a newer one go for it but I have nothing but hearsay on the others.

Without the cable, you could load the file to the PC and use a USB card reader if you have one, a built in SD slot on a laptop if you have one, or you might be able to use Dropbox or similar if the file falls under the Max size limit. Highly recommend checking the md5 of the file. Flashing a radio with an improper file is not good.

"they" e-mailed me back asking for my phone number so we can resolve it over the phone, sounds kinda fishy...

i do have the port on my laptop for sd cards and use the adapter to load mp3's on my microsd. Thanks a million for the advice! I'll check that out and post what happens :P

okay kewl... I have the radio 7.28, I got emailed back and they finally told me it was rooted using unrevoked, the values match on my md5 calc. I formatted my card to FAT when installed it in the phone, but there was no option for FAT32. Do i have to format it on my PC then?

Also: would it be safe to assume they s-off'd it if it was already rooted?

Yeah, has to be formatted on your pc, make sure you are formatting the card and not the internal storage.

lolz, internal memory. Well not to my surprise I beat oneworldcellphone to the punch and flashed my own radio image. Only been about ten minutes since I did it, but I tested it and it appears to run really good. It was laggy at first but after a few seconds (probably to load) it was smooth and in HD like it should be.

Big thanks to iowabowtech for getting the ball rolling, and another thanks to sdrawkcab25 for the link and help formatting!
