Help Info about Evo 4G HDMI port

Hi, I can't seem to find an answer to this. Is the Evo 4G HDMI port able to do everything the normal micro usb port does? Mainly the data transfer/use capabilities? The reason I need to know is cause my micro usb has become dislodged. I do not have the soldering skills to put it back on. So I'm curious to know this so I may still be able to synchronize with my pc via cable. Any help would be great!

as far as i know it is an ouput port. meaning that it is designed to only display what is on the phone. it does not have the ability to transfer data.
