Inspire to get HSUPA software upgrade?

Interesting. This will be disappointing to the conspiracy theorists since it basically says that AT&T had nothing to do with disabling HSUPA and it was, in fact, HTC not having completed their FCC homework that has kept stock upload speeds capped.

No telling how long we'll have to wait for this update to be pushed out, or whether it will come as a small update to just turn on HSUPA or if HTC will wait and roll it into the Gingerbread release that we know they're working on.

And that's not a simple task for most users who just want a nice smart phone without also having to be able to "rebuild the engine."

It soon will be when unrevoked comes out with a great true "one click" root. Then all you have to do is install that propeditor.apk and then edit like 3 values in that build.prop file. If you are already rooted, this is a no brainer. Totally easy at that point. ATT has basicly turned down the speeds, but you are on their 4G network. They just have you capped very low, and this will allow you to upcap yourself and it will fly at the fastest speeds available in your area. My upload seems to be topped out at 1.5mbps no matter how I change the values, but the DL speeds are up to 3.0mbps. This is supposed to be no where near what the new 4G network will be capable of, but at this point in its infant stage, this is pretty good over the air. Its a fast as a slow DSL connection.

This doesnt work for everyone. I have root and edited the build.prop and Istill didnt get hsupa.

We will see. Maybe ATT will step it out slowly and you will only have a marginal speed increase. Why would they give you the whole pkg, when they can spoon feed it to you a little at a time. Maybe with more cost involved for the faster service. But with the root way, you can get whatever speed your local network can offer at no extra charge and no cap.

You're still a fanboi of this even after I linked an article in your other thread? The one that said that ATT was only STARTING to switch on the fast system April 1, and that it would take through the end of 2011 to get most of it deployed. And, at the end of 2011, they admitted that ~33% of its users would still be on the slow system. But as was said, we will see.

I agree, but dont let this be the only reason why you root your phone! I was getting 2.3mbps dl and 1.0 mbps ul when I first rooted, running CM7 RC2, changed the radio and changed the build.prop file and now am getting 4.2mbps dl and 1.5 mbps ul. The other advantages to rooting is you can have honeycomb.

What does that have to do with this update for hsupa? Plus there are threads on here of people having hspa+ already

The gold card take 3 minutes to make. The latest root program even has the gold card maker built in as the first step. Making the gold card was the easiest step.

Depends on what type of card you are using. I tried my 16gb card and screwed with it for 30 minutes and no go! Then I tried using the stock 8gb card (should have done this anyways!) and bam it worked the first time.
 
So, being rooted, does HTC sense still work? AS in, can you sync/backup to your PC? Can you use the HTC website to locate your phone, lock it down, or make it ring?
 
I agree and think that AT&T will roll out HSUPA very soon especially where big red is stepping up with LTE with much faster speeds across many areas of the US
