Root [INSTALLER] HTC Driver Installer x86 and x64

gothicnerd1033

Android Enthusiast
Well, There seemed to be better ways to do things, So here is the actual HTC Installer for all windows systems(XP, Vista, 7, and 8. x86 and x64)

Thanks to ramjet73 for the link:
Dev-Host - HTCDriver 4.1.0.001.exe

This is my original post:
Here is an Installer I made with the help of remanifest.

This eliminates the headaches of having to do driver updates and manual installs of the drivers on x64 systems.

This will install the correct drivers on your system, depending on if your PC is 32bit or 64bit automatically.

Please DO NOT alter or redistribute this .zip without my permission. Just ask. :p

Tested and works well on Windows 7 x86, Windows 7 x64, And Windows 8 x64.
DOES NOT WORK ON XP

Dev-Host - HTC Driver Installer.zip

How to use:
1.) Download from the above link
2.) Right click and unzip the file to new folder
3.) Run HTC Driver Installer.bat and follow the instructions.

Enjoy! :D

To Do:
- Make XP (and maybe Vista)work with this installer. Vista may work as it *should* use the same drivers as Windows 7.
- Try to figure out why the previous .exe is having issues on x64 systems. ZIP is working without a problem.
- Anything else anyone can think of.

ChangeLog:
V1.0 - Initial Release

V1.1 - Changed from .exe to .zip which fixed problems when running on x64 systems - Caused a Command Prompt loop.
- Updated instructions.

You're awesome dude! May I have your permission to include this in my guide? I'd like to package it with the rest of the files in lieu of the current drivers!

Yes you have permission, But dont do it just yet. For some odd reason, The exe stopped working.

D=<

It worked before I uploaded it, Now It just flashes the command prompt window without doing what its supposed to do. UGH. give me a few minutes. :p

Worked great for me (32-bit Windows 7); I just had to press enter twice to get it to start... pretty excited, not gonna lie.

Okay, Uploaded a new good copy. Your all good to go. :p

Im just excited I actually made something that people will use.. Not just something that SOME people will use. LOL :D

Well, this is awesome... people have been getting sent in a million directions for drivers, and it's been a lot of hassle to get people to figure out whether they're on 64-bit or 32-bit, and to get the drivers to work properly, etc. This just erases confusion. You've done a GREAT job with this & you're helping out the entire HTC android community... this is huge man!

P.S. the Windows link has just been updated to include your drivers package in my guide... thank you!

Just tested this on Win 7 x64 and got caught in a crazy cycle of command windows. After clicking install it just kept cycling through command windows over and over and they all read "requesting administrator privileges".

I tried running again as administrator and same thing happened... Dunno if it's a bug in the program or something else??

Edit:
I went to the location that the .exe was installing to and ran the .bat file. Installed fine with the .bat file. So something isn't working properly with the .exe for Win 7 x64. At least for me....

You should add some brackets in the title like "[INSTALLER]" then then the rest because people will find it and the thread will get so many more views. ;)

Weird. Ill have to try to take a look at it. Problem is, I dont have a pc with win7 x64 on it.

Can anyone else confirm this problem on windows 7 x64?

Running the .bat I saw the same message in command prompt upon running, but then it continued. For some reason the exe wouldn't get past that point and kept doing it over and over.

Hmm. Only thing I could think of thats causing the problem is the "ask for admin permission" part of the script. I could remove it, But then you have to manually right click and run as admin to install.

I know this was for Brian706, but I have UAC turned off on my machine... drives me crazy.

I'm hoping someone else will test the drivers on a 64-bit Windows 7, so we can figure out if it was just a one-off/weird situation or not.

Yeah, I dont know. It was just a thought, Maybe that was having a problem. I have UAC on on both my desktop running Windows 7 32bit and my laptop running Windows 8 64bit and it worked without any issues, Thats why I was curious if it was related to having UAC off.

We wont know til someone else tests it. :p

Well, the driver package is still in my S-OFF guide, so I'm sure with enough time another 64-bit Windows 7 user will come along and S-OFF.

Hopefully it's just an odd occurrence, but... no telling at this point, since Windows doesn't dump very much useful information to logs (at least not that I know of).

Well, Good news is, If it is UAC related, Its simple to enable it real fast through the installer, then disable it once again after the installation is done, or disable first and re-enable after. Whichever works better. Probably enable it for the installation would work best.

This is a UAC prompt. You can disable/enable this in your account settings. Did you ever disable it? Does this window pop up whenever you install (most) things?

UAC is on by default.

Yeah I got the pop up. But when I ran as administrator it didn't pop up. Both scenarios ended in the same result. The bat looked the same as running the exe except for the fact that the bat completed and the exe looped on the administrative prompt that pops up as soon as it starts the bat

Yes, When you run it normally, Its going to ask for admin rights because they havent been granted yet. When you right clicked and ran as administrator, It already had permission, So It didnt have to ask again.

I dont understand why that would do this. all the .exe does is unpack the files, And automatically launches the .bat file. It is just a simple "self extracting .zip" converted into an .exe. Running it from the .exe or the .bat should have no difference at all.

Still need someone else to test to see if it is a constant thing or a one time thing.

I know what you mean... And it works fine when I run the bat... So something must have happened somewhere in the exe that made it loop. If I can I'll test on my laptop too. It's also win 7 x64. Ran on my work pc today

If you could, Youd be helping me out alot, Since I dont have access to a win7 64bit PC :p

Also, If you have a comp with 32bit.. Feel free to try there too :D
