Root [INSTALLER] HTC Driver Installer x86 and x64

Hmm. Ill have to figure this out then. Maybe Ill just have to skip the whole self extractor, And just upload it as a zip, And have people run the .bat file instead.

I dont know if this is gonna work the same, But I am installing windows 7 x64 in a virtual machine through virtualbox, To see if it works or not. It should give me an idea if this .exe will have issues or not.

Well, I can confirm the same looping problem with the main .exe file, and my fix doesnt seem to be helping either. UGH. I dont get why its having an issue. T_T

WTFFF. Now its looping on my Win 8 x64 laptop... WTF HAPPENED!? it worked the other day... >=O

Well, I gave up for now. Uploaded the .zip and will just have people run the .bat instead of just running the .exe.

An extra step, But its confirmed to work on all 3 systems. Win 7 x86, Win 7 x64, And Win 8 x64.

Updated first post with instructions.

What's the extra step? Extracting the bat from the zip? If so not a big deal. Anyone rooting should be able to extract a zip ;)

I know it isnt that big of a deal, But I wanted it to be a nice simple thing for people. I am still going to look into this and see if I can fix it, But it might be a little bit. Thats why I uploaded the .zip. That way theres at least something that people can use for now.

That's cool, I understand why you want the exe, but personally, I'd have no problem with it as is right now ;)
Beggars can't be choosers, right? :)

Okay... This is driving me nuts. I have a working script to install XP drivers also, But I cannot get the line of code to actually install the XP drivers.

I have tried the following "install commands":

%SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 <inserfilepathhere>

rundll32 syssetup,SetupInfObjectInstallAction DefaultInstall 128 <insertfilepathhere>

%SYS32%Rundll32.EXE <insertfilepathhere>

Every one of these were returned using google search and fail miserably.

All it does is flicker the desktop icons and startbar, And acts like its doing something. itl take a second or two to complete. It doesnt show a window or anything. No errors. But when I plug my phone in, It still shows the driver wizard dialog.

Does anyone know a working .inf command prompt line that works in windows XP sp3?!!?

I am so frustrated.

:banghead:

I may just include the actual HTC driver installer, For XP users. Just have the .bat launch that... IF I CANNOT GET THIS @^@^&@$%@#$%@#%@# THING TO WORK :pound:

What happened with the HTC installer that I extracted from the Sync Manager? I thought you were going to test that with different versions of Windows to see if it worked.

Well, That other installer worked on Win 8 x64... So I guess they fixed their driver installer. I assume itd work fine for win7 x64 also. Looks like I spent all this time on this for nothing.. T_T

Works on xp and win7 32bit also...

Sorry I couldn't offer that alternative earlier. I new the .exe installer from Sync worked with everything except Windows 8 but you and remanifest wanted something that worked on all versions. It wasn't until I read that post I linked with the different versions of the drivers that I got the idea of extracting the installer from Sync Manager.

At least we all know more about the HTC Windows drivers thanks to you and remanifest.

Thank you for your work on this gothicnerd1033 - it was a learning experience if nothing else.

Thank you for the link/information ramjet73, and thank you for your testing Brian706.

I'm in the process of updating my guide's files to include the new driver package. I'm also going to make a screencast performing the whole "procedure" in my guide from step one onward (minus the HTC Dev stuff, nobody seems to get stuck there).

Filename on my firmware file reads 2.95 now ramjet73 :)

Give me another 15 minutes or so to have it updated and linked up.

I'm going to redo the screencast. I found a couple of problems with the order of operations in my guide that could have led to some confusion, so I fixed the guide's problems and will be giving it another go sometime in the near future.
