Root Installing Android OS on HTC EVO. HELP!!!!

Does anyone know if there is a way to install the Android OS on my HTC EVO through the computer? I ask through the computer because my volume down button is broken (sadly) so I cant do it by holding the power and volume down button simultaneously. Also the phone does not boot all the way, the Sprint intro loops over and over, so i cant do it through the phones settings. Can anyone help please!?

Yeah. It basically means that something important has been deleted or corrupt. I'm not sure how you could restore because of that issue. Sorry.

Is your phone rooted? Why do you think that your phone does not have the Android OS already installed? Please include any more information you have.

He is in a boot loop (from the sounds of it). It seems like he wants to flash a rom via ADB or something, he can't do it through recovery because a bad volume down button.

And bricked is a term for when you phone ceases to work, and becomes a paperweight. We'll probably never know if you have bricked you phone, because the volume button is not working.

I suppose you could try to pop open the shell of the phone, and press the volume button (whatever it connects to) through that, but that'd be a last resort for me. Again, you don't have many options if your buttons don't all work... :(

Fixable likely with some difficulty, how good are you with adb?

Are both buttons broken, i.e. up and down or just down? If you still have one it makes life much easier.

Let me know if you have a button and whether you have adb installed and we can go from there.

Not really familiar with adb sadly. Only the down volume button is broken. Adb might be installed but I cant access the phone to check because my phones on a boot loop :/

ADB is downloaded and installed in your pc. It allows for commands to be sent from your pc to your phone such as those required to reboot your phone and flash a rom or other file. Are you trying to get it so that you can take it in for service or just to get it working again?

Honestly i just want to get it working again, thats all. Is adb available for Mac?

Not sure if it is or not. I am not familiar with Mac systems. You can check here though and see if it says anything about a version for Mac.
Thanks man, I really appreciate your help. I do have a PC at home so i guess ill try to do that when i get home. Do you know what commands i must type to fix this issue? Or are these commands listed in the link you provided??

There are some basic commands there but it may take some time to learn how to do it. The biggest problem may be that your phone does not boot up completely nor can you get to recovery. Does your computer recognize your phone at all?
