Installing the OTA 2.1 file

Power and home worked, but it says it can't find the file on mine. Gonna have to look into this some more.

It looks like the XDA site is focusing on the same thing I am.

That's the first portion of the update-script, which I'm pretty sure is run when updating. I extracted the original .zip file, modified the update-script and re-zipped it. I got a different error than those trying with a leak.

From what I can tell, what I've bolded tells the the update to check for those two versions, and if it matches, to update. So, I'm not sure why it's not working.

This code actually does say that 2.1 should still get the update... so I think I will just sit back and be patient on this one.

I think this file is meant to run from internal memory on the phone and not from external storage. I'm betting that is why it is aborting, although I cannot explain why the OP got it to work.

Great! So can someone post the exact procedure in order to work?

I would be tempted to remove ALL 'assert' lines from that update-script file. even the one that references result.txt

Might be able to avoid tripping a failure code then.

I updated the original instructions.

Sorry for the mix up.. I was just pushing buttons on the recovery screen and it started to work. I thought the last buttons I had pressed was power + Vol up, but I guess not.

That's why I suggested people try a different combination of buttons.. ;)

worked for me too!! POWER + HOME!!!

installing now!!

arothrock, please change your instructions or at least tell people to try volume up or home as volume up seems to work for some people, and home for others. ;)

I'm on 2.1 leak v.3 and I couldn't get the Home + power to clear the exclamation screen, but Volume UP + Power did take me to the Android system recovery menu. Of course, it aborted the installation.

What is the cache partition and what happens if it gets wiped?
