Help Installing/Uninstalling Apps

Just installed an app that's 222kb and it took up 3megs. Uninstalled it and i got 1 back. What the hell is the deal with that? No wonder the internal memory with android 2.1 clogs up quickly!!!
 
hah, it goes up and down. That free memory is not just installed apps, but also app cache too. The phone doesn't keep this value up to date every second, to do so it would have to constantly scan memory and thats cpu and power hungry process.

Thats why doing a reboot typically changes the value in a way that looks strange. Many things may have happened since the last time it fully refreshed, so its hard to keep track of how an uninstall will effect free memory for example
 
The damn memory better go up. I'm down to 114 now without doing anything extra. When u mention cache info (whatever they r) is there a way to scrap these off ur phone if they're not required
