OK, I'm assuming this thread got merged with another? I thought I remember there being a mobile recovery stickied up top, can't find it in search at all any more - anyway, to my question,
Ok knowledgeable Droid X folks, I need some help. I've been dragging my feet on buying insurance and my 30 day window is gonna creep up on me if I'm not careful.
Here are the coverage plans available:
Calling Features: Total Equipment Coverage
I personally don't see a real difference between the $8/month Total coverage policy and the $6/month Asurion policy. Please enlighten me.
I normally encourage discussion and sharing of different interpretations, but in this case if we could keep it to the cold hard facts I think that would be best.
Btw the reason I started a new thread about this is because the other ones I found in AFs are extremely long and convoluted. I'm really hoping to make this one very concise. Thanks in advance guys!
Ok, this is a bit frustrating. I signed up for Mobile Recovery a few days ago, and a couple days later received a text message that the service would expire because I didn't have TEC. Since I only signed up for TEC on 8/13, I figured the timing might be off, and ignored the message.Did anyone get a text from Mobile recovery saying they are not subscibed to the service? I got one yesterday. I thought Mobile recovery was linked to my asurion insurance. ??
You have a month to return your phone bro. You didn't need insurance for that. Also, I'm not sure of motorolas, but I know blackberries have a manufacturer warranty for that stuff. I think it's 6 months and I would imagine most others are the same. These 600 dollar phones makes you think about it hard but the fact of the matter is the insurance is there for them to make money. Odds are good that the average person will come ahead in the long run by never purchasing insurance at all.Go and get the insurance. Im glad that I did. My screen became defective 2 weeks later after I bought it. It had white banding. I am now waiting for my replacement![]()

I just got three DX's for myself and kids. I couldn't stomach paying so much per month through Verizon but realized I had $1800 worth of new phones (retail) so I wanted to do something.
I checked with my homeowners insurance guy and he checked and said it would be about $18 a year per phone. It would cover everything with a $100 deductible per phone. That sounded decent so I said yes. I just got the bill and the rider only added $26.99 to my policy for all three phones. Can't beat that.
Check with your current homeowners or renters insurance company and see if you can get a rider like you do for jewelry or computers.
I have all my "stuff" on my homeowners. Boats, snowmobiles, trailers, etc. I had a storm destroy the canopy on my boat lift and they covered it with no change to my homeowners. Check with your agent. Just my 2 cents. There is quite a bit of controversy about using a homeowners rider. I would definitely check whether or not claims on that rider get filed under your homeowners claims experience (you don't want experience... the less claims you've made, the less money you'll pay for insurance in the future): I would be willing to bet that they do. Also, I'd check on whether or not exercising the rider will effect your homeowners insurance premiums. If there are no adverse effects then great, but I'd be very skeptical.
Anyway, I'm not a homeowner so this isn't even a option/concern for me.
Did anybody get a text from mobile recovery today? saying something like "Thanks for using the Mobile recovery beta, please delete app from your phone."
Beta??
