haha, anyways, I found the information usefull, I didnt know any of that so it was nice to learn.

That link for the other 4AA charger said it will chrage a phone 5 times, so Im guessing it might give you a couple extra charges, maybe not 5 entire charges, but still, its nice to have, and you can always put in new batteries, so as long as you have batteries, you could keep you phone charged forever without going home!

Edit: I wonder if they will have to make the battery cell smaller to fit the powermat equipment inside. Oh, maybe a new battery door and a larger battery case to keep the cell the same size but include the powermat equipment? Oh who knows! Hey Quad ... you already know "how the process works". Would you explain it to us?

I didn't mean to imply you where flaming me. Sorry if it came off that way. I was just trying to provide what I was told at CES. As we all know, things can change...That's why I also said what you explained above may end up ringing true.

On your edit, I was also wondering if they have to make the cell size smaller. The battery door seems plausible though. From what they showed at CES (for other phones), there was nothing added on. Simply the phone as we would normally see it sans any external case...

What about this thing ( Motorola Portable Charger P790 ) - sort of the same concept, but instead of batteries it has a built-in rechargeable battery. To use with a Droid you would need a micro to mini USB adapter.

I just bought one - hella better than keeping around a battery charger cable and having to plug it into the wall....



Now I can use this with Motorola P323 Battery Charger SPN5564 and Motorola BP6X A855 Droid OEM 1300mAh Standard Battery

to keep my spare batteries charged. w00t!

I just got it in the mail today. Charging now - gonna test and see if it will work with my battery charger, if so I am so done carrying cables and crap.
