interesting GPS test results

When I first got my Mot Droid Bionic, the GPS worked amazingly good. My home has a metal roof and I was able to see enough sats to be able to get a bearing. I tested it by disabling the wifi and 3G and the GPS status showed several sats. Now, with 3G and wifi on it won't lock on to the sats. Also now I have to have both on to show the accurate location on the map. If I turn off wifi the map location is off by about a mile. It dosn't matter if there is a wifi signal or not. Is this something that was "updated"? I can take it and a high end handheld GPS into the woods and the Bionic will lock on almost as soon as I turn it on and the handheld GPS takes 5 to 10 min to lock on.

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!
i moved you to the bionic forums as you will get better help here.

i have used this, GpsFix before when i had issues with gps.

however, i'm not sure if this is an issue with the bioninc or not with the latest update. maybe other folks here can chime in.

Have you tried looking at GPS with ... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest&hl=en? It might give you some added insight.

What software version is on your Bionic? How do you have the location settings set? Do you have all locations services enabled? The cell network uses aGPS to assist with location. This basically triangulates your position using the cell towers and is not as accurate as satellite GPS.

I actually had similar results/issues, and I ended up needing a new SIM card. completely fixed all issues I had. I could get a lock with GPS status, but as soon as I had to use GPS in an app, like Google masps, etc the GPS would be constantly searching for signal.
