Interesting observation with batterys

I would be willing to test this out this weekend but I also would like for it to be fair. What do you think the best program is to log this stuff or how should this be done

bought mine online at sprint.com and I got the old battery which gave me terrible battery life
now with 4G off /GPS off /BT off /WiFi off and CDMA on and turned off some auto sync apps I got 80% of life left after 5 hrs off the charger when before I had 15% after 5 hrs

if the older battery are from the hero, then it's very possible it was manufactured at an earlier date. lithium ion batteries lose the ability to hold charge over time even if you don't lose them. htc might have just thrown these old batteries in to save some $

I have the newer battery and had horrible battery functionality.

I did all of the battery tweaks found in all of the battery threads which seems to have helped a lot.

I got my phone from Sprint website. I have the new battery..(no gold or silver trim).....my battery life is ok with stock Rom....I just flashed to fresh 0.1d hopefully battery will be better

EDIT: I have the gold/silver trim battery....been using my TP2 battery for a while now I didn't even notice.

since its the same OEM battery as the Hero, has anyone swapped a OEM Hero or TP2 battery in there and noticed better battery life... this would directly point the issue to be the EVO battery
In the other battery thread where its mentioned that HTC knows about the issue, it was mentioned that the led charging indicator light does not turn green as it should, I switched to a hero oem battery and it switched to green immediately.

why dont you all post up where you purchased your evo from and see if there is a pattern...
We could put up a poll in this thread or another to see. But we need to know what are the choices..
This is what I 've come up with...
01-Best Buy Store
02-Best Buy Online
03-Radio Shack
04-Radio Shack online
05-Sprint store
06-Sprint Online
07-EVP
08-Walmart
09-Other ?
10-

Any I'm missing...

good Idea I even have 2 different part numbers on these batteries I will see if I can add a poll

I apparently have the old battery with the silver/gold lining on the back but my battery life has been great. I can get about 27 hours before it dips below about 30%. That is with gps and 3g on, wifi and 4g off.

I bought mine from a Sprint corp store launch day morning.

New battery here. Had issues until I realized everything was running in the background:cool:

Pre-ordered mine from RS, picked up on launch day.

I have the new battery and yet my battery life is less than ideal. Although its a bit better after rooting and installing the OverclockWidget app, still, not as much as I would like for it to be at.

Same here. I put a new battery in at 3am today by 1130am it was DEAD and all I did was send a few texts. This is awful and I have everything possible shut down too.

ok i have done all the tricks except for a hard reset i will try that next but on the old battery with little to average use i would say today i was at 12 percent after being off the charger for less than 9 hours.

So no more entries to the list for the poll. Once i put up the poll in this thread and you vote, you won't be able to re-vote if any more entries are added.

Speak now or forever hold your piece. :D

I didn't bother looking at the pics.

Shortly after getting the phone, I swapped batteries to a black one (replacement one I ordered from Sprint) to charge it. I used it and easily got 12+ hours off of it.

My original red battery only lasts a handful of hours before needing charging. I did the GSM/CDMA switch and still no real improvement.

i have two old hero batteries the original and another from Sprint, from a returned Hero. I also have the new battery mentioned here. None of them are perfoming very well. If I use Google Nav it sucks about 40% of the battery within about 20 min. Other than that very basic use and it lasts maybe 6 hours? I have dont eh *# deal, although mine already said that it was on CDMA and I did it anyway. My time without signal is 0%. I have everything turned off that can be. I have manual pushes for email and facebook once a day. No widgets except for the toggle switches. I have checked my running processes or whatever it is that was mentioned and google talk is off as well as all other stuff.

Not sure what to say. Im trying the charge on, charge off thing tonite to see if maybe I havent been getting good charges?

Sorry my data doesnt add to this being the problem cause it would be nice if all we needed was a new battery

see i dont think this is a "new" or "old" battery issue. there are many reporters with good and bad battery life from both batteries. as i said before i think the issues lie in personal use/settings and reception.

my battery lasted me 14 hours today with 25% left. i was browsing on the internet often, using tapatalk, playing music, and i had 1-2 bars where i work so bad service...

this leads me to believe the silver lining or "old" battery is not to blame.

I ordered from the sprint store about 4 days after launch, and I have the old battery with silver strips on it. Getting about 18-24 hours per charge, that includes sitting off the charger for 6 hours at night. Interested to see if another newer battery works better. I'm trying the CDMA thing now.

yeah as i stated above, i dont think the silver lining battery has anything do with battery life.

your "old" battery seems to be good just like mine.
