Help Internal Memory Randomly Dissapears

I got the Samsung Galaxy Prevail for my 16th birthday. It's my first smartphone.

The problem I have is that the Internal Memory goes down randomly bit by bit. For example, I'll have 95.04MB left in internal memory. I'll play Plants Vs. Zombies, browse the web, play Angry Birds. I will delete ALL data and cache for browser, and cache for Angry Birds and Plants Vs. Zombies and I'll be left with 94.12MB left?!?

Am I doing it wrong? Thanks.

The phone uses the data partition for many things, apps of course and cache for the phone not just browser and things like angry birds.
there is a folder called davilk-cache your phone needs that to work by the way. however it stores things from all the phone and it grows with usage, of the phone. It does not clear itself very well You could clear it yourself but after clearing you need to reboot your phone or nothing will work.
After rebooting it will take a few seconds longer to boot up as it rebuilds the needed caches.

you can use any file explorer, I use Root Explorer.
browse to the /data folder then to /data/davilk-cache
use the menu key multi select- all then delete.
Then hold the power button and power off. Then power back on.

That is the easiest way.

Cheers! Thanks. How often do you do this?

You should probably get in the habit of using the task manager to manually kill any app that was last run, otherwise it will just keep running and eat resources if it wasn't closed properly.

The Prevail is designed to close the app by backing out of it completely . The only one I've found that does not close is Facebook . You need to sign out .

Do I need to root my phone in order to delete davilk-cache? Because I've tried Astro and Aodo File Manager and still can't find it.

you should not have to root for that, it is in the /data/ folder which makes it user accessable.

when you browse you should see the folder /
and then it lists alphabetically just look for data in there then look for davilk.

This is driving me crazy. I still can't find it. I've tried over 4 file managers now and used the search feature on every single one and still can't find it...

With Aodo, the /data folder is empty.

With ES File explorer, the /data folder has com.admarvel... and ubermedia. The one under /android/data/ has com.android.p... com.cooliris.m.... com.facebook... com.google.android.a... com.google.android.a...

What am I doing wrong?..

I have only ever used Root Explorer so I can not tell you if the others are not listing it for some reason.
Or maybe you have to be rooted to see and access I could not tell you.
