Root internal mounting problems

I just don't remember if I'd read weather or not you did... I know I have freaked out like this...and it was a bad download..

Hey ever try to re-download?... it could all boil down to a bad download...

i thought of that last night and deleted the HB6 on my pc and grabbed a new one from this site...mediafire i think.

thanks though...i either have something simple or something umm not so simple going on.
i mean 2 days ago i could have odin my spare prevail and activated it and loaded the back up and been good to go.
both of these phones are like new and do me fine especially after i found this site that showed a dummy how to root ;)
i just wanted to see if i could figure out the problem...well with a little help of course.:D
thanks

If ctmod installs than you might be able to do this... its been so long... I'd wait till another like lordvincent, wet, cm or vice gives some approval... but you can take a pc grab a copy of 7zip and...

1. Get BOTH copys of HB and CTMOD.. side by side in a empty folder..

2. Do not unzip... just OPEN AS ARCHIVE open both. Orherwize it will ruin the singing on the file...

3. Replace the system folder.. from CTMOD to HB overwrite the entire folder.. Do not merge.. even delete the one in HB zip before copying over.. than copy to sd card. And flash...

Try this ( as I mentioned above ) :
1. Format your sdext
2. Install the ROM ( I'd try CTMod, but you can try whatever fits you )
3. Let the phone boot up normally, don't do anything, just let it start up
4. With CTMod installed ( sorry, don't know how HB does it ), go to >>>settings>>>CtMod Settings>>> Kouma mod and change the radio button to "DATA" and save it.
5. Now hold the power button down for a second or two until you see the menu.... Choose REBOOT, then RECOVERY
6. Once the phone is in recovery, RE-FORMAT the sdext (not sd-card )
7. Then reboot system..... be patient, it may take a little ( first boot can take up to 10-15 minutes in some cases )

Let me know f that helps

I like this idea. This will rule out the updater script as the problem. You could also place the /system folder of hb.zip in ct.zip and see if that boots

Edit - you will also have to delete the boot.img from the ctmod.zip (idk if the kernels are compatible or not)

ok this is a little over my head but...i can give it a try.
you say CTMod...like CTMod 3.80?

the rest of your instruction i should be able to follow.
the reading i have been doing on the :E volume block/mmcb1k0p2 points to me f ing my internal partitions up sometime in the last few months.

thanks to all you guys...i'll give this a shot and let you know.

i did that twice...took about 10 minutes each time to fully boot.
tried the HB rom again but still the same results.
while my daily phone was booting i did the extra phone a couple time to HB and had no problems.
i left the phone on data and it seems to work fine.
thanks for the instructions vce2005 it was worth a shot.

Did you try my suggestion?

no i haven't, it appears somewhat difficult for my "lack" of skill sets:o
i still may install the zips to a folder on my desk top and see how far i can get using your instructions.
i guess the big deal is i'm trying to find out why my daily phone won't work with HB...it's not that i really have to have that rom but it's driving me crazy why it works on one phone but not the other.
thanks again for everyone's help:D

I had that same problem when I tried to switch from one phone to another I ended up having to just redo everything fresh to get it to work on the other phone.

lots of great advice here but i swear i have done at least 4 back to stock odin's and double that or more on the HB install's/partition/formatting/3 different sd card's and so on.
i did a full back to stock on my spare today and it worked 100% then loaded restore and was back to where it was an hour before.
my daily phone loops then hangs or just hangs...crazy crazy..
just so no one misunderstands...my daily phone works fine(as far as working)...i have a restore of CTMod 3.80 i just restore on it when i'm done trying things to get HB to work.
can i load terminal emulator and run some commands to see what i have or don't have and maybe see if my internal memory is jacked up?
here is a post from the HB thread...guy was having the same issue as me but seems to have got it going:

Try flashing back to stock, Factory reset, then mount your partition in CWM and re flash.

Yes you can use terminal. If your spare phone is ok why not just go on the boost website and cancel your now phone and activate you spare phone instead? I did that many times back and forth. You can do it online without talking to anyone. Do it before bed and will be good to go in th morning. It is easy. :)

that would be to easy...LOL
yes that has crossed my mind but i hate to give up on my 30 dollar phone///LOL

when i went from my rambler phone last September to the prevail boost didn't make me move to a android account and they didn't charge me 10 bucks to active the (used)prevail.
i was/am at 35 bucks a month full shrinkage...is this normal or was i just lucky?
opinions?

Your card may not be partitioned or done right. You are missing this (/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 984480 148236 836244 15% /data) that is on the other phone.

here is what i found using df command...

/dev/stl13 163768 97008 66760 59% /data
But there is a data partition...
And the two are different see.... /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 984480 148236 836244 15% /data

Edit: I am wrong they are the same... Sorry for any false hope...

just started over on daily prevail using 8gb card and ctmod 3.80.
partition 1024 0
format sdext then run zip.
reboot let load and set to data/reboot to recovery and format sdext and reboot.
took several minutes to fully boot.
below are the df results:
