Help Internal SD Card

Nephin

Lurker
This is my first post not had an android phone for long. I am confused about transferring apps to the SD Card.
Most of the apps I have downloaded give an option to transfer to the SD card. At first I thought this must be to the external SD card. But it turns out that this is to the internal SD card, but there is no internal SD card. Have I got this right?
So is this just another part for want of a better word, of the internal memory?
If this is the case is there any point transferring apps to the internal SD card?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2.

Hey Nephin, welcome to AF. I'd like to move your thread into the S2 area where you will get the very best help and answers. There are so many different S2 devices and each is a bit different. We have an area for each S2. Let us know which S2/carrier and we will see that you get the best help possible.

The Galaxy S2's internal storage is considered as an internal SD card for legacy purposes to maintain compatibility with older apps written back when SD cards were the only way to obtain large capacity.

As to the question "is there a point?", the capacity of the system memory, where apps install to by default, is only 2GB. Being able to move large chunks to the 11.5GB of available internal storage memory frees more of it, allowing more apps to be installed.
