Root [International] After restoring galaxy s3 i9300 EFS, my serial changed

After I installed Agni kernel (CM10.2) my i9300 EFS folder wiped out and can't even boot. Then I flash Samsung Android 4.1.2 firmware using PC ODIN. I saw my IMEI changed to a generic number.

I already have an EFS backup. Then using a root file manager, copied the old EFS backup to the /efs directory and reboot the phone. IMEI issue completely fixed. Now I can take calls (phone register mobile network).

But the problem is my serial number changed. At present there's no issue with this serial (I guess), but if I need to claim the warranty this is an issue. Are there any way to correct the galaxy s3 serial back to the original? Still I have remain 1.1 year warranty.

I think this is not an illegal method/request. I need to know how do I restore my older serial number not the IMEI.

Where is this serial store? I have an older Nandroid backup.

Are you perhaps talking about the Android ID #?
Or the serial # reported on your device is different than the one printed under the battery?
 
EDIT sorry bad reading skills. Ignore this: so youve installed YOUR efs backup and you now have IMEI that doesnt match the one under the battery? Basicly (accidentally) cloned your phone?
 
Oh yeah sorry. Just checked my phone status and it has a serial number. Whats that used for? In UK its always the IMEI thats used to tell where and when a phone was bought :beer:
 
I've flashed roms and sometimes my Android ID changes. No big deal, and the only reason I know it changed, is TitaniumBackup says it changed and asks me if I want to keep the new ID or revert to the old ID.

I didn't think the serial number could change at all.
The IMEI number however, sometimes would get deleted, (not sure how) with rom flashes. (I backed up mine also)

I'm kinda unclear on that whole EFS thing tho.:(

Anyhoo, about this serial number issue.....not really sure on that either and just want some clarification;)

What is an “EFS”?
EFS refer to a folder location called /EFS in Samsung’s Android devices. It is a very sensitive folder hidden within the deepest core of your smartphone’s internal file system and is very essential to the functions of our smartphones.

Yeah i dont really understand the whole EFS thing but so many people are having problems with it.
All i know is i have it backed up all over the place in .tar and .img form.
If i lose it, ill be on here asking how to restore it lol.
I think this is a case for..... is it a bird.... is it a plane.... no!... its EARLYMON!!

Theres so much confusion arond on g+ as well. I just tell people to make sure they have a backup before flashing anything.
For the international you can use Ktool by Hellcat to back it up and doesnt the newest CWM have it in "advanced backup/restore"? Ill have a look :beer::thumbup:
