Root [International] Boot Loop At Splash Screen

The IMEI numbers don't match lol :/

Yeah i went through set up with no problems.

It's showing wifi signal but no phone signal :(

Sorry to keep you both up at this crazy hour.

On kTool do you mean the option restore EFS from backup ( dangerous ] ?

Yeah bro. Its something ive never had to do tbh so its bit scary for me too. Ive asked a dude, Heat to check this thread out if hes awake.
Im awake anyway bro.
What i think id do is look into ktool, see where it wants your backup file to be, put the file there and try restoring it.
This is happenin to so many peeps lately, duno why but im glad u have a backup.
Its maybe the modem on the stock rom u flashed that causes it. I havent updated my modem (baseband) in over a year lol

there's 8 efs backups in 1 folder and after i used kTool it says the backup doesn't exist :(

Can you not manually move the IMEI from the efs folder and move where the new / not working one is to over write it?

I wonder if it's because the filename doesn't match what the app is looking for. I noticed that my backups made by neatrom weren't named the same as the files that ktool was looking for.

You could try renaming one of your backups to match what the app wants.

The back ups are in zip folders .tar.gz, i have the original efs back up on PC from when i 1st got the phone, i'm sure i never replaced that 1 and it's still the original one.

Maybe because they seem to be in .tar.gz it isn't recognising them? Also the original efs i backed up is a folder containing other folders etc and not a zipped .tar or zipped .tar.gz file.

yup. this is new to me so whatever Davoid (good guy) says, is what you should try bro.
Oh man youve had an unlucky experience of flashing mate, sorry

OR, try what u said. Use the file explorer to move it to where ktool expects it to be but maybe have to ch........
Wait..... doesnt Philz have "restore EFS in "advanced restore" or something??

No probs bro, you know the risks before you start ;) Shiz for luck is my middle name lol.

Simple fact is, my phone wouldn't even boot up at the start of this thread and now its turned on with a new ROM installed, unfortunately with no network but i'm a hell of a lot further forward with everyones help ;) Hopefully something can be done to reinstate the proper IMEI number ;)

Anyway guys i can't keep you or myself up any longer, i'll check back tomorrow / today lol and see if anything further can be done.

Cheers for both your help at this crazy hour lol. Goodnight and cya tomorrow.

Im not on Philz coz ive been flashing kitkat with CWM.

cool mate we'l get back to it tomorrow. Glad youre not like some people who would be moanin bout it.
Anyway me n the mrs r gona cozy up n see whats on netflix so night peeps. Peace :beer:

Also the original efs i backed up is a folder containing other folders etc and not a zipped .tar or zipped .tar.gz file.

That's right, the backup is an archive of the folder. I still think it is just the naming convention of the app that is causing the failure to find the backups. If you made a backup with the app it wouldn't necessarily be called the same filename that your backups are called. And it is that filename that it is looking for.

As funky said, maybe try restoring from Philz recovery.

Anyway, goodnight peeps.

I think this is a common problem for all US users! Every rom I flash breaks my efs folder. There's got to be some way to fix this

Hey Guys,

A quick update....

Basically i tried a few things this morning in between repairing a friends laptop and other things  hehe.

I tried putting efs in certain places etc etc. Then i got the original efs folder and made a .tar.gz with it and named it like the kTool backups- efs.tar.gz and kTool recognised it so i restored it.

It asked for a reboot so i did 1 and when it booted there was still no network access so i checked the IMEI number in about phone > status and the IMEI number matches the 1 behind the battery now :) but still no accesss, lol.

This is some of what i see in about phone > status....

Network > unknown

Mobile Network type > HSDPA

Service Status > Out Of Service

Mobile Network State > Disconnected

IMEI > perfect match for 1 behind battery

IMEI SV > 05

Bluetooth Address > Unavailable

At least the IMEI numbers match now which i hope is a step forward :)

Any ideas what else i could try from here?

Cheers lads for all your help ;)

EDIT - How do i take a screenshot in Carbon?

Mornin mate.
Power and vol down at same time for screenshot.
Wish i could help with rest....
..must be modem thats ******. Whats your baseband mate?

Try and use this tool under windows instead - [TOOL] Updated! 04/09/13 - EFS Professional v2.0.70 - With Qualcomm NV Tools! - xda-developers - worked twice for me without issues.

Thx m8 ;)

I downloaded it, extracted and ran it on my computer. I gave superuser rights to the adb on phone but the program freezes on initialising the adb server.

I only had a chance to read last 10 pages on that post and a few of the 1st few pages, seems a lot of people have the freezing problem, i unplugged the usb and reconnected like people were advised on XDA but it still never unfroze.

Any tips on the freeze issue and how to use the basics of that program if i can get it to run? Maybe because it's late and i'm tired i wasn't grasping the fundamentals of it.

Cheers

Any progress mate?

Been super busy all day mate :( never got my dinner till nearly 10pm lol, i should have a load of time tomorrow to try a few more things, hopefully get that program above working, looks promising (not that i know much about it lol)

Anyway, thx for all your replies guys but i must retire to my pit, my pillow is sending smoke signals to me to get my head down ;)

Nite peeps

Hey armand. How come youre using an i9300 in the US anyway bro?

I ordered this phone on ebay and only paid $25.00. The only thing wrong with it was a cracked digitizer and I fixed it myself. So, I got this awesome phone for less than 50 dollars
