Just have a a couple of questions before i do though.

1. If i root my phone how do future updates work out?(I plan on sticking with the default ICS 4.0.4)will i still get them OTA?

2. I plan on rooting using SuperOneClick, I need to have my SD card un-mounted, How is this even possible with the Nexus?

Thanks for any help. :)

I moved this to the all things root section for you, but i will attempt to answer the questions as well.

1. If you stick on stock rooted 4.0.4 you will still be prompted for OTA updates, but taking them MAY break your root. The best way avoid problems is to wait for a developer to release a rooted build of the latest update. These are usually posted within 2-3 days of an OTA.

2. I am pretty sure SuperOneClick will not work on the GNex. The tool you are looking for is here: Wug's Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit

Yeah, there is really only one root exploit that works on selected versions of ICS (4.0.1 and 4.0.2). Its called the mempodroid exploit based on mempodipper (a Linux kernel exploit which has been patched for 4.0.4 and above).

SuperOneClick and other root methods (aside from having an unlocked bootloader) will not work for the GNex.

Cheers!
