Well it took a few weeks to recover it from a near hard brick the other week lol and just recently I dropped it and ruined the screen for a second time. So it's sitting in my underwear drawer until I can get the screen replaced once again lmao

BTW, clean out some of your inbox

Hi FL, yeah it was the aroma, a whole shed load of options, including a page of modems. I remember whatever modem I chose, the next page warned me about this that and the other' so I was damned if I did, and damned if I didnt, so to speak. A list of kernels too!
Thanks for the encouraging last sentence!:):thrasher:

I tried one like this that killed my modem, but I had saved a modem patch that sale or tarzan had made for me, didn't like going back to jellybean so flashed something else lol.

Ok, i am now rooted!!!!! :thrasher::thrasher::tee::dancing2::dancing:
I didn't use skips tool kit in the end, it looked a bit daunting to be honest:ahhhhh::afraid:. What I DID use was a program called Kingo Android Root, which is a one click rooting utility. Root Android phone, flash custom ROM and manage your Android devices, Rooting Freeware Download - Kingo
I had to run it a couple of times with it failing, before I realised that I needed to install Superuser myself, even though it said it did it during the process. However, after installing it, it ran and rooted my phone within seconds!
One thing though, it installs CWM recovery, but it's in Chinese, so after it finished, I installed Philz touch recovery, and all is well.
I'm absolutely worn out with all this virtual running about!!
But at least I can now browse some roms to see what I fancy......there's a nice one called IMPERIUM I saw, comes with a shedload of choices......:eek::eek:

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions, help and encouragement:hello:
Dave

Carbon rom, CRom or neatrom I would say, or this one me n funky are on is pretty stable vanir

I downloaded Vanir but it wouldn't install, just kept on saying 'failed', so I've gone for Neatrom for now. Installed TWRP recovery too, to see how I like it, and I do, very nice indeed!:)

I fancied trying KitKat so I flashed AOKP, and it was great, apart from most of my pics missing from the gallery! I then tried Liquid Smooth, which was also good, but again, no pics, so I have now just flashed Vanir, and guess what, not only no pics, but all my contacts have gone now too! Nothing I try seems to get them back. Oh, AOKP didnt see my external sd card, LS did, but Vanir doesn't!! Any help guys?
Dave.

Flashed a nandroid backup of Neatrom 4.3 and got everything back. Is there an issue with 4.4.2 Kitkat and sgs3, or is it just me?

I have been using TWRP recovery, which I find very user friendly, so do a wipe, then flash rom, then flash gapps that comes from same site as rom, then reboot. What more can a man do?

Excellent! Will done Nigsy.
A fix is always better than a work around but Quickpic is a great gallery so who cares!:beer:
