Root [International] Internal storage problem

Newbie
Hello guys

ok so i have a strange problem, i am running paranoid android 3+ no extra apps at the moment, when i connect my S3 to a pc and look at the internal storage its saying that it only has 3.62gb free from 11.3, if I open that drive up and select all folders in side the total amount of storage used is 277MB, I made sure that I had show hidden folders etc selected in windows however no extra stuff was shown, i am confused TBH whats going on?

This is a fresh install of paranoid android, any help would be ace.

Oh also if i was to format the internal storage and then install a rom would this work or would i lose important info specific to my phone for example my EFS?

I just thinking that may be that would be a better way to install a new os.

I really hope someone could shed some light on this for me :)

thanks

I have just installed a storage analyser and its showing me the following

/storage/sdcard1 =14.81 gib total 14.48 free
/emulated/0 11.35 gib total 3.71 free
/android/obb 11.35 gib total 3.71 free
/emulated/legacy 11.35 gib total 3.71 free
/android/obb 11.35 gib total 3.71 free
/system 1.48 gib total 1.02 free
/data 11.35 gib total 3.71 free

I still confused :(

Have you tried any other ROMs? If you were to go back to a touchwiz one it might get your storage back

Unfortunately I have no idea what is causing it on paranoid android : confused: sorry :(

Hi guys at last I have managed to sort this out, Ok the problem i think was PA ROM and that it creates loads of partitions due to the multi user support, so what i did was flashed Zoots Megawipe run that with in clockwork and then installed the nexus rom, all is fine now and in fact the phone is running better, the PA rom had bugs with wifi hotspot and the gallery.apk and sometimes it would just not boot, oh and when you charged the phone with it turned off it always turned on. anyway all fixed and working. :)

Well, the problem you referred to in your OP, aside from some bugs in PA it is most definitely not a problem solely down to the PA ROM. This issue is due to the changes introduced by Google to the whole structure of the OS as of 4.2.x and I had that a couple of times after flashing a 4.2.x ROM on different devices. The only way is to completely format the entire device, including internal sd, media, preload, caches and so on, in fact a factory reset won't do it - you will be left with data in media from your previous installation, which you cannot delete in any file manager.

You will loose your personal data when upgrading to 4.2.x, at least if you do it proberly and therefore, you need to save any pictures, files etc. to a memory card or your PC and then copy the contents back afterwards.
