Root [International] locked bootloader?

[zanza]

anyone know if the S3 will be easy or difficult to root?

We won't know for sure until it's released however Samsung have had a good record in the past.

Samsung is usually pretty good about not locking the bootloader, unlike most of the manufacturers lately. I really don't think they are going to change that

So it could be a simple Odin root?

[jonas000]

Well mine I'm ordering from play.com says unlocked in the name so I assume it means yes it can

this is also why I have grown to favor Samsung for Androids, very mod/community friendly handsets.

Sadly I have to remind you that it is carrier specific now a days. Look at the One X, every carrier but AT&T had an unlockable bootloader.

As I am on Verizon, until the phone comes out I won't know if the bootloader is unlocked on Verizon.

So Samsung phones usually ship with unlocked bootloaders? That is great. So does that mean that the only thing one needs to do is root them to get complete control and flash custom roms? I just got rid of my One X because of the locked bootloader and many other issues so having a phone that simply needs to be rooted would be great.

Samsung phones on Verizon have always been easy to root and unlock. Samsung does not lock their devices down like htc and moto do.

They don't ship "unlocked" but usually are very easy to root and unlock the bootloaders, they are very dev friendly.
