Root [International] Need help with Htc one

Unaga

Newbie
Hi,
I need some help with my phone (HTC one m7 international version).
I have it for over a year now, and i have rooted it before and had a custom rom installed but i needed it back to stock because of something.

So i unrooted my phone (it still shows tampered tough i don't know why), my bootloader is still unlocked and S-ON.
I can't seem to install the new android update 4.4.2 , i can download it with no problems , but my phone doesnt just install it.whenever i press install it brings me to a black screen with some text and says the installation failed and just reboots it again.

I don't know why my phone does this but i think i messed something up when unrooting, not sure what cuz im kinda new to this.
I would really appreciate the help and i really need it.
Thanks in advance.

Oh, thanks for the reply, i"ll try and relock it tomorrow its late atm, will i be able to root it again after that or should i just leave it unlocked ?

Its what the update is and if it allows you to root . you said 4.4.2 . far as I know you can and it would be easier that the first time.

I do, i rooted my phone earlier and its still unlocked, thats the only thing i know actually

OK in that case, follow these instuctions and see if these work

Download the update, when it finishes select install later.

plug your phone into your computer and locate the update on your internal storage, its either in the download folder or on the root of the storage.

double click it to open it, it should be a zip file, you will see in there another file called firmware.zip, double click that too and pull recovery.img from it.

place recovery.img in your fastboot folder on your pc and boot your phone into fastboot mode.

open a command promt in your fastboot folder on your PC (Hold Control + Shift + Right mouse click, Select open command window here) and type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

only takes a few seconds to flash, when done, reboot your phone and try and update again.

Nope , no stock rom :/
I had android Rev HD , now it shows something else,
Kernel version:3.4.10-gfa33c1e
Root@abm012#1
SMP PREEMPT

Nope , no stock rom :/

That's why the update isn't working, you must have stock rom and stock recovery, nothing can be changed from the day you got the phone, no apps missing etc, its not easy to get the stock rom back unless you have a backup of it.

Who is your carrier and location ?

I had a backup just before rooting and flashing that custom rom, but i lost that ... And i dont know where to find the stock rom, i read something about an ruu , but couldnt really find it

Can you post your "fastboot getvar all" make sure you remove the imei and serial number before posting it and ill see if I can point you in the right direction.

Hmm, ill send it in a few hours or something since im working on something atm, thanks for your effort tough :), i"ll be back in a few hours

Okay im back,
Oh it says for now i just need to relock the bootloader.. its unrooted allready, and S-on, now the only thing i need to do is find the right ruu, but its a bit confusing , im gonna keep looking for it, the rest is pretty easy i think

Sorry didn't know you unrooted and didn't return to stock . now you can get a s-on and do the s-off so the message will go away. And the update will download

Oh, its unrooted but still shows tampered, and its S-on and still unlocked, so i just have to do S-off ?

The link I posted above has the RUU's, you just need to know what your modelid and cidnum is, do that by fastboot getvar all command.

If you flash the wrong ruu you will brick your phone, do not get s-off, no offense but you seem like a bit of a noob, and s-off opens up doorways to easily brick you phone, S-ON stops you flashing the wrong RUU, S-OFF allows you to flash any, flash the wrong one and you have a brick.

No offense taken , because i am a noob ^^, its just , i did all this stuff when rooting, it went with no problems, and damn now i cant remeber anything of it anymore, i know how to flash that ruu tho, but i have no idea wich one it is, do they change over time because i have one on my pc that i used for my phone(still the same)

they change everytime your operator or HTC bring out an update, the OS version goes up and so does the HBOOT, these cant be back flashed whilst s-on.

ive added a file called mini-sdk, download it, unzip it and put it on the root of your c drive, restart your phone and whilst its going off hold down the volume key, then plug your phone into the computer, you should now be in the bootloaer of your phone and it should say fastboot USB on the screen

when there, on your computer open up the mini-sdk folder and then hold control and shift and right mouse click, select open command windows here, the command window should now say C:\mini-sdk> then type next to that, fastboot getvar all, it will give you a list of information like the picture above, write down the cidnum and modelid number and post that info back here.

You can then reboot your phone, either by typing fastboot reboot is the easiest way at that command prompt

okay lets see , im gonna extract it now
btw, my phone is on 10% now.. i should let it charge a bit probably..
