Root [International] S3 NeatROM

Which would be the best rom for my S3 19300 UK non carrier phone, currently on jb 4.3 baseband 19300XXUGMK6.
I noticed that some of these roms here have different baseband version number, and I am trying to make sure I use the right one.

Also what is the difference between AOSP neatroms and neatrom, I am aware of what AOSP stand for, but don't know what the difference is between the 2 roms.

Would the one in the post above this be good for me (March 27 rom)

Your help would be much appreciated, cheers

Baseband doesnt matter on the i9300 and the aosp neatrom is based on Slim rom (but better) which is pretty much pure android like you get on a nexus but with some customisations/features, still very light and fast but no samsung features on there.
The other neatrom is based on samsung firmware but stripped down a bit and some added customisation so it has all the samsung features, great camera etc but is still pretty heavy and not as fast as aosp. Also its only at 4.3 jellybean whereas aosp is at 4.4.2 kitkat

Thanks funkylogik, so the rom above my original post would be a good one to start with?
A job for me in the morning lol

Cheers mate

It would be a great one to start with if you can live without the samsung software features :)
With any aosp rom you have to flash a "gapps" (google apps) package on top of it to give you google services like Play Store etc. There should be a link for gapps in the link above. You just flash it straight after flashing the rom.
Remember n make a backup in recovery before you flash anything ;)

I am having problems installing CWM or the philz_touch onto my phone to do the backup and dalvik clean etc, can someone recommend or give me a link to the working file of either of these, I just cannot get mine to show.
Cheers

Sale, thank you, but when I down load this it comes as a 63bytes file, this can not be correct - can it, it does nothing in odin
Help please

Thank you - however, I manged without problem to odin that file to my phone, on completion it rebooted, and I then shut the phone down and rebooted in recovery mode - Power + Home + Volume UP hoping to boot into CWM recovery now, but no.

It opened in the standard recovery menu:
Reboot system now
reboot system from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache

I thought this was going to be so simple, after updating my ACE 2 at the weekend, which went without a hitch.
I have the march 27 aosp neatrom and the google apps loaded onto my sd card waiting for the next step.

Any idea where I should go from here please
Thanks for your help

Sale, thank you for your efforts, I am now in recovery mode, hopefully simple from here ....lol
I have a few other things to do for now, so I will continue later and report back to this forum..........with a success story ...lol
cheers

I agree with you funkylogik, but his kind help, helps me and others use his roms and hopefully some of us will contribute to his funding. Anyway I for one am very happy he helped and also thankful for your kind help in the early hours of the night.

Update: all installed and working fine, I did have a problem with android.process.acore notification telling me it had stopped working, but a reboot seemed to have put an end to that. now I am going to spend some time setting the phone up to my liking.

Thank you everyone.

Enjoy it Graham and try enabling ART (Select Run Time in Developer Options to add a lot of speed. Takes ages to reboot the first time but its worth it)

After all that, today I get a message saying 'Update Slimkat Rom update available' should I be downloading this, or wait until Sale updates his rom.

Funky, Thanks for the tip I have done as you suggested, works ok ,even though I haven't noticed any difference - yet
Thanks for the tip, always want to hear about anything that might make things better.
Cheers
