Root [International] S3 NeatROM

I want to update from v1.5 lite to 1.6 lite but want to keep my CSC as BTU(UK) as it is now. If I use CSC Select app from play store it will factory reset and I'll have restore everything again. Which I want to avoid unless I have to

I have done a bit of searching and found a couple of methods.

The 1st was this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36693780&postcount=1183 But after I flashed the modded zip my CSC was "Unknown" and the CSC Select app didn't work (just gave an error and stopped). I restored my nandroid back after this attempt;)

Before I try the 2nd method want to make sure I understand it as it seems too easy. All I have to do is edit 'CSCVersion.txt' and 'SW_Configuration.xml' in system folder and not touch the CSC files.

So do I change the text in CSCVersion.txt from I9300ITVEMA1 TO I9300BTUEMA1
And in SW_Configuration.xml where it says (CSCName)I9300ITV, just change th ITV to BTU.

Or is there an better way to do it. Any help much appreciated.
 
I remember reading about the CSC but is there any reason to change it? I've been using this ROM on whatever CSC its given me (not checked it) without any noticeable problems.
 
salesale, Do you recommend a certain ROM for my mesmerize? I have just recently rooted it and backed it up with titanium back up. I'm really new to all of this. Could you help me set a good performing mesmerize. I would like it to run like a stock S2. I would like it perform like a stock S3, but I have heard alot of ppl complain about the S3 having poor reception. My mesmerize is stock with the exception of being rooted, I have deleted some of the unwanted factory apps. I have the SCH-I500, hardware V. I500.05, firmware V 2.3.5, kernel V 2.6.35.7 and I noticed my internal memory is almost full. Plz give me your advice and recommendations for this upgrade. Thanks, Shawn.

ya i am using the touchwiz camera and the best face option refuses to work. Anyone else tried it and facing an issue? The second camera option(AOSP) does not seem to have all the function that sammy has given.
 
Flashed v1.7 Lite, wiped cache & delvik cache. Everything worked great except when I connected to my pc my S3 reboots. Ok with mains charger. tried another cable, rebooted pc, still the same.

I have restored my nandroid backup of v1.5.1 and it works alright, no reboots. Should I do a data wipe as well, was hoping it wouldn't be needed
 
Is anybody experiencing reboots with the Lite version? I seem to be getting them every 2-3 hours :confused:

Edit: anyone got any quick fixes? Can't fix this properly for another 6 hours or so
 
Still have issues that mods applied with Aroma won't apply (e.g. battery mod).

What is the best procedure to apply these mods ?

1. Wipe
2. Apply ROM
3. Reboot
4. Apply mods ?

etc. ?

Tried a lot of different boot / wipe / install combinations and it fails. Either certain mods, like the battery mods, depend on different theme / launcher / combies or I am really running out of ideas.

What version are you on. If 1.7 then I think you have to wait for Sale to release aroma 1.7a, aroma 1.5a won't be fully compatible

This is what I just had, but with 1.6. Just restored my backup too and everything's back to normal, I wonder what's been causing this
 
Ive just noticed multi window doesnt work (v1.6lite).......
Never really used it like i thought i would anyway, screens just that bit too wee on s3 imo

Not sure, wondering if it needs a full wipe & format system, even though it's supposed to be a no wipe update.

I'm back on 1.5.1 for the time being
 
Im on 1.6 but using aroma 1.5 i think and all seems good except multi-screen.
Neatrom is such a tidy wee rom :)

Off topic, aparently the prizes i won on AC have been shipped.. duno how long itl take them to get from US to scotland but my Decalgirl skin took like a month lol. I swear there better be some hardware in this package.. atleast two N7s, their promotional crap can go to charity shop....racists!

Think i still use aroma 1.5.. usin Rom 1.6. Even the core apps dont split screen.. whatatever i choose just takes whole screen.

When you drag the second app across does that not split the screen? The first app dragged across will always take up the whole screen until the second is added
