Root [International] siyah kernel

ah so the wanamlite will just install the superus and busybox itself cos on the forum it gave them files seperate? so much to learn lol x

Yeah flashing the ROM will install supersu and busybox at the same time. Yeah there's a lot to take in. I know what it's like as I was where you are once. You're getting there though:)

ah yes i already have that on my phone so when i instal wanamlite it will just go over that or shall i use the zip file from the other form...so what is philz touch is that a custom rom same as wanamlite or something else lol x

Yeah just flash the ROM, no need to worry about anything else. Philz touch is a custom recovery. It has other uses but it's basics are to wipe and install things on your phone. Even with root access you can't flash ROM's or make a backup if you are using the stock Samsung recovery. That's where custom recoveries come in.

will take me years lol im learning everyday haha so ive no need to delete the super and busybox i already have when i flash the wanamlite it will just go over that...the forum i got it off im sure had a seperate zip file for those x

Yeah you only need to flash the ROM. The only app I use to change the kernel settings is the stweaks app. Have you deleted it completely or is it in the recycle bin?

its not gone to recycle bin. i was sortin files out on my phone through my pc and deleteed it..so i dont kno where it is x

I think you'll have to try a file recovery program and hope for the best. I've never used any of them though so can't really make a recommendation.

I'll try and condense some of the info down into one for you.

ROMs - these are modified versions of the operating system. Wanam Lite and NeatROM are modified versions of Samsungs own TouchWiz. They generally debloat some of Samsungs shite (S Voice, Samsungs apps etc) and sometimes add little extras of their own.

Kernel - this is gonna be very basic as I'm not too sure myself. These are basically the 'engine' for the phone, different kernel offer different things. Some can be modified to change speed (Siyah and Perseus) and others don't offer changeable options and have preset parameters.

Custom Recovery - this is the place where you can clear data, cache, flash stuff and do a full system backup. It's also the place you go when the do do hits the fan. Different ones offer very slight different things but they all generally do the same job.

One final thing, each ROM and kernel will work differently on each phone so what works for me mat not necessarily work for you :)

If that's too much horse poo someone else feel free to change what I've said or delete it :thumb:

The kernel is what the software needs to do anything related to hardware such as turn on WiFi,or increase screen brightness but the most important ones are turning on the screen and responding to touches.

I see the kernel as being like the Master Control Program (MCP) in Tron :)
