International vs. ATT

Is there anyone that's used both side by side and can give a comparison? Despite the fact that there's a separate forum for the ATT version, it seems like this forum's been flooded with people using the ATT version. Prior to the release of the ATT version, I read nothing but good things about the Note, but now it seems like there's a lot more complaints, and I'm wondering if its because of the ATT version. Between the gimped processor and ATT bloat, I'm willing to bet that may very well be the case. Obviously the international version destroys it in benchmarks, but if anyone's got some first hand real world experience, that would be appreciated.

Thanks, I didn't realize there was a separate AT&T forum. I thought this forum was for all versions of Note. Also, it's called "NOTE LTE" which I think is a bit confusing... I wouldn't automatically think that means AT&T.

There are some reviews of the 2 side by side on some tech sites. After reading the reviews, I specifically would ONLY buy the international version.

The main reason was that the two versions use different cpu's, and the international version seems to be better on the battery, lasting about an hour longer.

I've used both versions of the Note. One of my good friend has the AT&T version, and I have the International version. The AT&T version seems to be quite a bit slower than the International version. Playing around with the AT&T version I've experienced quite a bit of lag doing simple tasks, it just doesn't feel on par with the international version.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a great device. But if you have a choice go with the international version, unless LTE is extremely important to you.

I'm looking to transition from my iPhone 3G to the Note. Will the locked AT&T SIM card from my iPhone work in an unlocked Note? Are there any limitations or problem areas?

I want to be able to use the Note when traveling outside the AT&T area which I do for about 6 to 8 months a year.

Thanks that confirms my suspicions. All I ever read was how butter smooth the Note was, and now I see all these complaints about it being laggy, so I just wanted to make sure.

Those of you have the international version, would you recommend a Squaretrade warranty?

Can someone please answer this ⬆ I currently have a iPhone 4 and I'm sick of the apple restrictions. I have been doing a lot of reading and have decided the note is for me. I have AT&T and I work in Brazil. For 6 months I'm in Brazil and 6 months I'm in the states. An unlocked phone would save me money. My wife has a Galaxy S II and I love it. Hers is branded and I want to purchase the international note but there is just one thing holding me up. Is it just as simple as removing my sim card from my IPhone and putting it in the Note? If I could get the answer to that I would buy the note today. Also where is the best/cheapest place to buy the note?

The Note uses a full size SIM card whereas the iPhone uses a mini SIM. So you will not be able to simply swap back and forth. You will either need an adapter for the SIM card or get a full size SIM card from your provider. The Note will be worth the trouble though ;)

Eric Ritchie.

Thanks for the reply. I would much rather buy a $5 adapter than deal with some person at the ATT store and listen to them tell me how my phone isn't going to work with ATT since it didn't come from ATT! Ebay here I come for the adapter.

The iPhone 3G uses the same SIM card size as the Note. Only the iPhone 4/4S use the smaller SIM card. The only thing one would have to do is contact AT&T and have them change your data network designation on the network from a "3G iPhone" to an "HSPA+ Android phone." That's precisely what I had to do. Also, I got to keep my unlimited data with no price increase.

I like having LTE and NFC, plus support is slightly easier when it's a device that I bought from AT&T themselves. I have zero complaints.

Also yay 2000 posts!

I'm in the middle of a 30 day trial with the i717 through AT&T. I love this phone. But I was a little misled when I was first watching videos. Most reviews I watched dealt with the GT N7000 version.

I have the option of returning this phone, which would gain me my upgrade eligibility back. I could then buy the International version ($569?), sell my iphone4 ($300)- so it would basically cost me $269- plus I'd still have upgrade eligibility, as opposed to costing me nothing, but not having an upgrade for 2 years and also having the AT&T version...

Is $269 worth keeping my eligibility and having the International version? No brainer, right?????
