Help Internet Pass-through

I am able to use the internet pass-through feature on my phone, but, turning it off seems to be a bit of a problem.

I choose 'charge only' from the drop down menu on the phone when I am done and then I disconnect the usb cable. But my 3G service doesn't come back and I'm not able to connect to wireless networks after doing this. I had to plug the phone into a different computer, choose internet pass-through again and then it failed because it said another device was already using that method. Then i unplug it and my 3G comes back.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there and official procedure for disconnecting the pass-through feature before unplugging the phone from a pc?

Just tried this and had no problems. I switched off 3g and wifi before hooking to the PC. Once connected I could get to the internet on the phone as expected. Disconnected from PC, reenabled 3g and everything was fine.

so would this be faster if ur computer is hooked up ether net wire running 100mbps, compared to wifi, and do the internet pass through, this should be faster than running wifi on the phone? otherwise im confused as to not just use wifi

I'm unable to get 3g out wifi at work. This enables me to at least use the internet on my phone there though..

For future reference, I believe it's called 'tethering'.

actually, no, it's called internet pass-through. If you have the Incredible 2 you will see this option when you connect your phone to a PC.

You are sharing the computer's internet connection to the phone; not the other way around.

Really? Well, that's a new one for me. Now I feel dumb! X_X

So, if I want to use internet pass through mode, I select internet pass through (last option) in the usb connectivity drop down box, make sure 3g and wifi are disabled, then plug the cable first to pc then phone?
