Iphone 4 announced, I still rather the incredible

Android may lack in size and their may be a couple gaps but the development will not stop and quality apps will break into the market, and I highly doubt that Apple Developers are all about exclusivity. Once they see that market share keep rising, they are going to be porting their apps over to the android community. Lets not forget Verizon has the largest community of cellphone users and the way Verizon is pushing this market there will be some coin to collect.

I'm with you!!
App developers of would be fools NOT to build apps for Android. I mean its mathematics at this point. There is one phone that the Apple Store has apps for.

How many Android OS devices are out there again?

I have an incredible (first smartphone) but its hard to try to diss the new iphone since it seemed like all the smartphones are trying to resemble an iphone as close as they can. From my month experience with android, I can say I do like widgets alot, and that is the only thing I like that the iphone can't do. Also it seems like my battery drains so fast on my incredible and I know iphones and ipods have pretty good battery life.

Why is everyone so excited about 2.2? just for wifi hotspot?

All i'm saying is I think the new iphone looks slick and will probably want one when it comes out but im stuck with verizon for 2 more years...

I will add though I do feel like the iphone is limited to what it can do compared to android. I love androids multitasking.

I love my incredible ! But the iPhone blows away our phones when it comes to APPS, I'm sorry, i'm totally an Android fan! and I really want it to be a better OS than that of the iphones but its simply not there aesthetically. Our apps are good and usually will achieve the same things that the iphones apps are capable of but it's in how they achieve it were the major difference is. Their apps are more aesthetically pleasing and usually function without hiccup and as far as not ever having a problem finding a comparable app on our market..... How about (Photofunia) I can't seem to find anything as clever as their app but maybe I've missed it ... and this is usually the case ... it is nice to see Apple playing catch up for once but we still have a ways to go and I'm totally on board with Android and would never switch to such a proprietary carrier but gotta give credit where credit is due

I don't think Android will have too many major companys coming to the gaming world , not right now anyway. There are too many android phones out for developers to cover. For example a company may develop some cool game for higher end devices, what about the guy with a g1? The same application that is available for the nexus one is available for first gen phones. This is will result in low comments bad ratings etc it doesnt make sense. I'm not knocking android or our incredibles but google really needs to get this fragmentation issue worked out. With the iPhone they usually have one model a year. It's just less of a headache for devs on the Apple side of things. You wont see "dude wtf I paid six dollars for this app on my Eris it doesnt work".

I have owned an iphone since Gen 1. I currently have a 32GB 3Gs. I Love my phone to death, I would honestly be lost without it. My best friend has a Droid Incredible, before that he owned the Motorola Droid. I've used his pone like crazy, and I absolutely loved both of them! The reason... Because I love Technology! I don't care whose logo is on the back, a good product is a good product! I am not an Apple fanboy, I'm a Tech fanboy and shout it proudly. That being said, I must say I am quite thrilled about what i saw at the WWDC, and I will be first in line on the 24th so get my iPhone 4. What will I be doing then? reading about what's next for Android so I can get exited for the next update, iPhone 5, and so on. Competition breeds excellence, and I am so glad the Android OS exists. Now there is a push between apple and Google to make the very best operating systems they can make. So WWDC done... New iPhone announced... Now I look to Android and say, What's next??

I'm pretty sure that the 4th Gen. iPhone will be a huge success, and will be a great piece of hardware. Just as the Incredible & EVO are great pieces of hardware, and successful in their own right.

What I believe is just as important, however, is the network that that specific hardware is connected to, and in the case of the iPhone, that would be dreadful AT&T. A phone is only as good as the network that it is running on, and AT&T's network is pretty dismal.

This is all i have to say...Apple is really good at making very mundane things seem ingenious. Things like multitasking, and adding folders....They are so late to the game, yet they make everyone think they're innovative. Apple has a GENIUS marketing team. They can make people eat their own crap.

AT&T doesn't have any data coverage in my area, so I wont be getting the phone even if I wanted one. Verizon on the other hand, has plenty of coverage. Moreover, I really don't like Steve Jobs at all. I dislike the closed Apple environment intensely.

Exactly. I really hate how they do that, but the reason is most people are ignorant about these features, is because they're not usually "techies." Apple highlights these features that don't get much marketing time, and take credit for them. They bring technical stuff to the non-techie crowd.

If Steve Jobs shit in a box, it would probably sell 1,000,000 "copies" on launch.

Lmao.... Damn! I completely agree!! That F#$#er is very very good at selling his products to non techie customers who don't know any better. He probably follows the same rule I do " if you can't dazzle them with brilliance than baffle them with bullshit" ;)

Apple seems to dazzle them with bullshit

Sprint is starting and testing their 4g coverage at the expense of their customers, i ready for an upgrades on one of my kids phones one Jan 2011 and another at july 2011, i be ready for a 4g or LTE Verizon phone, and so will the coverage, and if the coverage is questionable... i'll wait a little longer.

Don't rush towards technology... because you can't catch it!

Watch the battery problems with 4g... here they come....

I think 4g has great potential and will be able to feature amazing phone capabilities.... but not just yet. I heard over 200k sold already, i wonder how many may be returned, and not because its a bad phone but because of coverage and battery issues, there will some lucky people who are in the right place with good coverage, but even they will have to contend with battery life because the great coverage will promote use.

switched from iphone to eris due to dropped calls on ATT. after about 8 months i got iphone lust again and fired back up att on my old iphone on a month to month basis and the dropped calls were B - A -D.

The iphone is a great phone but if you want a phone that WORKS AS A PHONE IN THE US, you cannot buy an iphone. Lusting after it on AT&T is like lusting after Megan Fox or some other super model....there is no point....

Now if VZW gets the iphone....im there.

I came from a BB Curve 8310 on AT&T - had it for two years. I can honestly say I didn't have a noticeable amount of dropped calls. There have been rumors that the dropped calls on the iphone may have actually been Apple's fault but who knows.

I bought a MacBook a while ago, because I wanted to "try it out." Unfortunately, it was one of the worst mistakes I ever made in my life. After fiddling with it for a couple weeks, I decided the machine was too dumbed-down and pathetic for me to enjoy anything. Rather than giving it to my niece, I sold it for almost double what I paid for it.

The reason I didn't give it to my niece was because I figured it would be child abuse; I want her to have the freedom of a PC instead... or she'll grow up to wear box-framed emo glasses and hipster clothing, with full-on Apple apparel.

The "customer" (see: victim) did nothing but complain about how it "sucked", so I stopped responding to his emails and he went away.

Why is everyone so excited about 2.2? just for wifi hotspot?

I'm looking forward to the performance boost more than anything. 3-5x more efficient use of processor which means smoother OS and potentially better battery life.

Is it an overall OS performance boost or just a boost for apps? I was under the impression that it was the later, not sure why tho.

Totally agree with you.. Though i'm hating on there netflix app but I read the engadget article that stated that netflix hired a couple Android devs, so ill be patient for now ;)

The point of a Netflix app is to have entertainment when you don't have a TV around. Where you don't have a TV around, frequently you also don't have WiFi around. This means that you will have to depend on your unlimited data plan... oh wait... no more unlimited data on AT&T. How many gigs is the average movie again? 2Gigs won't last long while streaming high quality movies to your phone. Then it's time to pay.

The specs of the new Iphone will be surpassed within 2 months. I mean the EVO really gives it a run for its money already....

Run for its money? Your nuts! Both the evo & incredible knock the socks off the new iphone.

First and foremost, we can send & receive calls!
(In case anyone missed that nifty little "feature")

Here's a key factor here. Why do apple fanboys ccome to an android forum, to try and justify their product choice? If they really felt it was better, they wouldn't have to, now would they?

EDIT: and I thought id have to avoid this in this thread, but guess not. Sprint has the second largest 3G network available, and vzw/sprint share towers... so voice and data is never really an issue.

About 4G. Of course its going to suck more power than 3G. Your using two different radios instead of just the one. You turn it on and off when needed, just like wifi.

Now let's get back to shutting the iFans down with their pOs4, oh wait, that was iOs4, my bad.

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

From what I read it sports 5mp camera, plus a front facing camera.
still no widgets. No 8mp Cam...
Honestly its a nice phone but doesn't blow inc out of the water by any means. Especially when we get froyo.

Are you serious? I am thinking about returning my Droid Incredible for the Motorola Shadow. The iPhone 4 blows away our Droid Incredible.
I got a DINC on launch day.

1) It has a 326PPI screen that matches and exceed a printed magazine. It is going to have a better screen.
2) 8 Megapixel means squat on the DINC. my 5MP Motorola Backflip takes better picts than the DINC. More megapixel doesn't mean better.
On the flip-side
3) IPhone plays and records H.264 720p/30fps straight out of the box. This right here out-does the Sprint EVO4G (20fps/mpeg/3gp). Our DINC barely plays WVGA H.264 movies. I don't expect HTC to pony up money for a decent video player (when our hardware obviously supports it).

You can use the iPhone movie file in any pro video editing software. Expect music videos done on Iphone to be plastered all over VIMEO. You know some art film maker is gonna make a full length movie just so he said he did it on an iPhone. Browse VIMEO and see how many "made on iPhone" video exists; fully polished and edited

It will be a match between the new iPhone, Motorola and new Samsung.

Both sides are over reacting here. In no way shape or form does the iphone BLOW the incredible out the water nor does the incredible far surpass the Iphone4.

I don't like the iphone for the same reason i don't like the mac mouse: one button doesn't do it for me. i need the right click on my computer and the menu button on my phone.

Apple - iPhone - New features in the iOS 4 Software Update.

Really? The mail app? Gmail blows it away. Folders? I can do that on my Incredible (don't want to), multi-tasking? lol. :D. Anyway. No real comparison for me. Truth is, Apple could have came out with a phone that can drive me to work in the morning and placed it on Verizon's network and I wouldn't give them a dime of my money.

Just saw this! LOL Wow, really? hahaha. On the front page they brag about being able to change the wallpaper on the home screen? Oh how the mighty have fallen. :D :D :D :D

After looking at the incredible and purchasing one, the only down side to it is that it hasn't arrived yet.

I'm not going to say the incredible is drastically better than the iphone. Its all personal preference. Iphones interface doesn't hit home with me anymore. I used to think it was cool until i found android.

Now it really does seem like the iphone is marketed to kids in middle school to maybe sophomore year of college. I think the target audience is the people who want the iphone as a status symbol.

I am different however. I do not want my phone to replace my computer and my xbox and my camera(that i don't have) or anything else you can think of. I want my phone to be primarily a phone. Fun and extras second.

Also it doesn't look like apple is bringing much that is functional to the table. 720p video cool, i don't want to shoot hd video with a phone, because it will be terrible looking. A high res display, that's all well and good but nothing that shouts I'm 'incredible'.

It seems that apple believes they have a steady customer base of people who like 'idiot proof devices' as i call them. People who never learned or never cared to learn how a computer works, they don't want huge customization options and menus with settings upon settings, because they cant figure those out.

Sooner or later people are going to lose interest, and if they are truly into buying the best device then not only android phones but other smartphones from all companies will start to outshine the apple iphone. That's its one weakness, its At&t's only selling point right now in the smartphone industry. I beleive that most people that use their phone for business get it through verizon probably with a discount from that company. Verizon is reliable, has an outstanding lineup of phones and more coming in the next few weeks.

Sorry for this being so long.
Needed to get my opinion out there.

Ummm...somebody correct me if I'm wrong; but the new iPhone is NOT a 4g phone.

Dont worry about it. apple cant even think about 4g until at&t releases a 4g network, i like the iphone, but 3-4 years after the first one, i dont think it will still "revolutionize" the world.

i'll stick with my droid incredible:)
