iphone for sprint

I dont think their is a question about a Sprint iPhone anymore.. but the article suggests the iPhone 5 may be a Sprint exclusive (others settling for iPhone 4s for the time being). ...should find out tomorrow.

Apple: Sprint Paid $20 Billion To Get iPhone? Is It Exclusive? - Tech Trader Daily - Barrons.com

30.5 million units of that piece of crap? ughhhhhhh

Sprint is out of their minds. They barely have over 50 million customers now. They can't possibly expect to sell that many, especially with better, cheaper Android devices on sale right now.

I have it from reliable sources that the iPhone 5 will cure cancer and AIDS and most important will make the iPhone 6 and 7 obsolete! :D

Norman Winarsky Interview

Well if they get the exclusive and maintain the unlimited plan, I can see all the isheeps flocking over to to sprint. New customers have been a problem for sprint.

First of all, your link is malformed. Second, who are you to question their business decisions? And what perks are you even talking about? Are you implying that had Sprint not invested that money it would have somehow been placed in your pocket?

EDIT: This post was made in another thread, and a moderator merged it into this thread. It is out of context and has nothing to do with anyone in this thread.

Seriously relax dude, and mlb I read that same story earlier, and if this is true I really dont think this was a cool move by Sprint. To screw over loyal customers just to be another one of Apple's b*tch#s.

Sprint paid over 20 billion dollars for access to new iPhones through 2015. As part of that deal, they have agreed to buy 30.5 million iPhones from Apple, regardless of whether or not they are able to sell them, which works out to Sprint subsidizing each handset by $500.
That is quite an investment on the part of Sprint. My gut tells me this will not work out for Sprint and will ultimately bring about their demise. And no, I am not an iPhone hater...I think it's an excellent product for most people. I just think Sprint overpaid so they can get in on the iPhone "money-train". I assume AT&T and Verizon will continue to carry the iPhone so that's some stiff competition and Sprint's overzealous buy-in may end up being rash.

Thanks, I forgot to check the link.

Who am I? I'm a somewhat happy Sprint customer for over 10 years and give them money every month. I hate to see them go down the toilet. On seconnd thought I'm not gonna waste my time. Thanks for your input.

The point I made here already is that iphone is better for some and Android is clearly better for us here.

Yes I love Android and that is what I use. But there are tons of people out there that love the iphone. It is a lot easier to use by default, there are countless of older people/and young kids that can use an ipod/ipad/iphone. This is great for them, a lot of people don't like to tinker with their phones, they just want it to work for them.

There is nothing wrong with this, for people like that, the iphone is the way to go. Also generally the iphone gets better battery life, this is for a few reasons. It doesn't have true multitasking like Android. No widgets or live wallpapers either. So this helps it battery life. Also ios has a lot less lag than a lot of the android phones, with each update android is getting better, but there is so much more going on with it that it is acceptable to me and hardly noticeable nowadays.

I personally like widgets and live wallpapers. I love tinkering with my phone all the time. Clearly I am all for android.

But no should be saying the iphone is crap, it is a great device, just not my taste. Clearly us on androidforums are going to favor android for the most part.

This is probably the most true of any statements in this thread. How can people say Sprint is not being loyal to its customers by acquiring the single most popular piece of cellular equipment? The small number of enthusiasts on this board pale in comparison to the number of "sheeple" who want their one stop shopping the iPhone provides. I don't foresee Sprint having a problem selling the iPhones, and in fact might lure back previous customers.

If Google really wants to be serious about killing the iPhone. Circle the wagons with Motorola as the defacto Android phone. Then make Amazon your partner for multimedia content, because if the Amazon Fire takes off like it might do, and dents Apple's hold on the tablet market with a closed Android system. I'm pretty confident it might try the same thing with cell phones too.

It's not always about specs and performance. Sometimes ease of use is the deciding factor.

If the iPhone deal is true, there is bound to be more to the story.

Is Sprint crazy enough to dump $20 billion into a 3G only without some type of assurance or Apple?

I don't know. It's risky, but sometimes when you are backed into a corner you have to punch back as hard as you can. Better to fight hard than lay there and stare at a slow bleed.

none of us know why big corporations do things. at the onset, it may look like a foolish move in the short term, but do realize these big corporations have a roadmap and they are looking months even years ahead for their TODAY plans to benefit them downstream. they dont "live in the moment" like many of us do. they may take a loss or a hit (like amazon taking a loss with their tablet in order to secure more business down the road) but in the end it benefits.

so if all of this is true, lets revisit this later next year and see how sprint have improved (or not) by this rumored deal.

Apple unveils the iPhone 4S, adds Sprint as carrier

No iPhone 5 this year but iPhone 4S is coming to Sprint October 14th. It is a rehashed iPhone 4 with 8 mp cam, A5 chip, and iOS 5. Same design. Same small screen. No 4G. Lots of stolen Android features. I watched the keynotes for the conference and it was the most disappointing thing I've ever watched. There are already several phones better than this!:p Apple has failed.... Again!:D

P.S. the only cool feauture of the phone is "Siri"

Apple Unveils iPhone 4S - World Phone (GSM/CDMA) On Sprint, Verizon & AT&T | DSLReports.com, ISP Information

After watching the most disappointing conference ever, I can happily announce the rehash known as the iPhone 4S is coming to Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T on October 14. No 4G. Looks exactly the same as the iPhone 4 just with iOS 5, 8 mp camera and A5 chip. As i expected, there are already Android phones better than this. Apple has failed again!:D

P.S. the only cool feature of the phone is "Siri"

I think you may be selling the camera short, it looks pretty damn good for a phone camera. We won't really know how it performs until people get their grubby hands on it and start snapping away. Otherwise, outside of Siri, I agree that this only brings Apple up to par with current Android offerings.

Oh, and I'm dubious about Apple's speed claims. And I really don't care to have my phone talk to me unless I'm driving and it's telling me where to go. I think Siri, while a cool concept, will be relegated to novelty level for most people. Fun to show off, but are you really going to use it every day?

Sounds like the general consensus is that people think Sprint will raise their prices when they get the iPhone. Any one think that other carriers might drop their prices to match Sprint in fear of losing customers?

The ipad2 is a beast in terms of raw performance. The 4S should be even more powerful. More powerful than the GS2 even...on paper...

However, there is no doubt at all that android has completely leapfrogged Apple in the smartphone arena.

On sprint especially. The E4GT rapes the 4S. The screen alone makes the 4S look like an entry level HTC hero

Well, of course they are getting on the I-wagon... Its a huge piece of the market, and some I-sheep will never abandon their perfect crapples.

Personally... I think apple makes some of the best hardware on the market, even their software is good, I just dont like the fact that you can only use apps approved by apple, and the fact that it cant be customized like android.

I do also own an Ipad... The wife uses it mostly, but compared to other tablets I have used, I gotta say, it may have less function than some of the droid tablets, but it does what it does well, and the batt life on that thing is absolutely amazing... wife streams music all day, does facebook, browsing, et... and we get 2-3 days out of a charge, and its really good for teaching the kids, our 2 year old has no problem finding and playing her games, and sprout online...

I still think android is the better phone, but the Ipad in my opinion, is still the best tablet.

Wow, talk about anticlimactic. Looks like the EVO remains in the stable until the 5 drops. Although Apple did the same exact thing when they dropped the 3GS instead of the 4. And look how well the 3GS did. I'm not so certain Sprint will be as successful now as they would have been had it been the iPhone5.

I really don't even understand how they can say some of the stuff they say. "Improving on the innovative stainless steel external, dual-antenna design of iPhone 4, iPhone 4S is the first phone to intelligently switch between two antennas to send and receive."

Using two antennas to send and receive is a very old technology. MIMO, Multiple in multiple out, is on almost every wimax phone created.

Heck, next they will say they invented away to send and receive using the same antenna, something the current htc evo 3d can do.
