Root is 2.2 worth it?

For me 2.2 has been great, and certainly worth the upgrade. I hate not having the "newest" and "best" available, so it was a no brainer to do it. I have had really no issues and have the deodexed version now and have revolution theme installed which is great.

i noticed minor performance adjustments overall, and having flash is a nice bonus but i don't use it a whole lot in my browsing at this point. Now that the excitement of the first custom roms is heating up. (birdman has an optimized 2.2 coming any day, and a vanilla 2.2 coming in a week or so) its definetly nice to have the option of flashing them.

I'm not worried about not getting the ota 2.2 either because im sure someone will load it into a zip file soon after and then go from there. and who knows if the ota will even be that huge an improvment over what is available now.

Oh Crap! I was hoping this wasn't Froyo related. I just got my phone a few days back and of course when the froyo buzz hit, I just had to jump in. I had this very thing happen to me last evening and thought it was just due to mucking with different app installs and heavy usage but ended up having to reboot to get my earpeace/phone volume back as it did this very thing.

Now I'm really on the fence as to flash back to 2.1 and lose my setup but gain stability? Blah....

Well given how few people have complained about this, I'd recommend going back to 2.1 and then updating to 2.2 again. Perhaps something got screwed up in the process. I suspect if you give 2.2 another shot, it will be fine.
