Help Is 2.3 Gingerbread Possible?

CRESC Ent

Newbie
I'm sure this question has been asked 1,000 times, but I cant seem to find anything on this phone about it. But my question is putting 2.3 even possible with the MS690? I don't see it being a problem. But I am guessing it would have to be done through a custom ROM. Is that correct?

But if we could throw some ideas into a single thread maybe it would be easier so that we are not looking through a bunch of threads to get the information.

But just a question and idea.

So any takers?

Is that all that is stopping that?

Can the LG firmware be from any phone made by LG using gingerbread?

And is that something that a user can create?

I made a test cyanogen mod 7 (gingerbread) for Lg Ally so it is possible. It booted and had working wifi and gps but has many many issues to work out. And most of that probably was from me using eclair proprietary files as thats all we had at the time. However untill metro's apn-conf.xml issue is sorted out optimus m will have no cellular data connection on a build from source rom ( I made an aosp opt m froyo test).

 Wow. Um, in terms for someone who doesn't know really what you said, that means we can create a ROM, but we will not be able to use the phone or web, correct?

Yes, but you will have "Gingerbread" on your phone, and that's all that matters, right?

We want Gingerbread to make our phones better, and that will come in time. People are working on it.

You are right, this has been asked several times. It's not that everything isn't in one place, it's that people come in and ask a question (like Gingerbread or 2.2.1 non-root issue) before really searching. Their question gets answered, then the thread drops down towards the bottom as there is no reason for it stay active... Then a few days later, someone else comes in and asks the question(s) again.

Well, this happened just hours after yours:

We need some stickies. :)

Here's some more posts about Gingerbread on this phone:

Yes I have read through the threads but didn't see my question answered to where i could understand it. I'm new to androids, and I am really interested in learning how to develop and understand the design of the android OS, so I needed for a way i could understand my exact question.

While i'm kind of on the topic. Is there a "tutorial" or any threads to help to understand how to learn this stuff. Or even any recommended websites geared to a newbie?
