It is very annoying but only because everytime this happens with any device they flood the market with advertisements saying "YOU NEED THIS! LOOK HOW AWESOME IT IS! IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE YOU'RE OOOOOOOLD!" and then you can't find it anywhere. Same with the Wii "hey, look how fun this is! Give us a chance, I promise you'll have fun!" then nearly two years before it actually sat as stock on the shelves.
Still, the Inc being unavailable probably saved me a bunch of money. Forced me to stick with ATT, got the Aria, and now the Captivate is coming out within my 30 days. It WILL be very frustrating if I can't get my hands on one of those, but I'll be perfectly happy sticking to my Aria if that's the case.
The commercials and hype make every new phone seem leaps and bounds above the previous king of the hill. But once real life reviews start coming in, the differences are fairly negligible. For example: they're advertising the Hummingbird as being 3x faster than the Snapdragon. Well, that certainly makes the Snapdragon sound slow as hell doesn't it? But remember way back, like as far back as mid June 2010 (some of you may be too young to remember this) when the Snapdragon was praised as being phenomenally fast?
If you can't get the Incredible, there are tons of other great options out there. You'll be surprised how good the less-than-superior android phones are.
