Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on the new tiered data plans from verizon. I should still have my unlimited until 2013 so ill just hold out on getting any new phones till then so i dont have to upgrade and sign new terms lol.
Two years of unlimited starting this week is still a win for me. Plus, pricing and broadband throughput is better with LTE and current unlimited, compared to HSPA+ and monthly.
If you actually read the internal documents(the new ones that came out today) you would see that you are grandfathered from now until w.e and will be that way even if you upgrade.
Why would you switch? You can grandfather into unlimited plans, and the other carriers will follow suit with tier plans as well, just a matter of time. VW is just the first one to make the move.
Verizon is the only carrier that works in most of the remote places I frequent so I'm definitely not switching. However, if I had to choose between a smartphone with a $30/mon 2 gig plan vs a dumbphone. I'd choose the dumbphone and save the $30/mon.
I'm happy with VZWs coverage so I wouldn't switch. I'll stay as long I have unlimited data for $30. After that I'm thinking I'll dump the smartphone altogether and just have a tab. That will save me $40 a month with no voice plan.
