Root is anyone trying a work around for the bootloader

but i somehow think that you're going to go on ahead and keep posting about how people need to step up and do this or do that...if you do not want to wait then go ahead and learn how to mod Android...and figure out how to get past the bootloader...but honestly, if Shabby gave up i have little hope in other people...so whatever

you seem to know more then me i admit that. why all the anger there are lots of times that its easier to not try. because of rejection people not wanting to help, people not having time to help or all of the above. that doesn't mean we should stop exploring other options. i understand you feel as tho those options are pointless but why be so harsh to me for trying.i also think you would be a great help in trying because even tho we don't see eye to eye i can tell you are a intelligent person.

Im not expert in bootloaders etc i never said it couldnt be bypassed. just well beyond my realm of knowhow :P you are basically gunna need kexec or 2nd init, something to "reboot" the device into a new kernel without reloading the bootloader. i sent some emails at chiwens request to a couple of higher ups i know (ones a college professor, the other started the fedora project, the linux distro) havent heard anything back in a few weeks tho. but just cuz i gave doesnt mean you should hope for anyone im not that big in teh android world :P. just dont go trusting EVERYONE, on teh photon 4g we had a guy claim clear out of left feild he cracked it turns out it was an image opened in notepad and renamed to be the proper files...

i had to convince chiwen that him sending me his device isnt going to help anything its the software on it and ive no idea on what to do :P

you are an incredible person to know all you do and still be very humble. with out people like you innovation would be dead. thank you so much for being who you are
 
has anybody tried adb boot stock recovery to see what happens? I tried boot recovery and boot second recovery both of which just rebooted my phone. Im afraid to try adb boot stock recovery in case it just clears my phone lol.

it's adb reboot recovery
also all that does is wipe your phone clean.....making you lose all contacts and apps....
 
There is more than one command for rebooting recovery.
1. reboot recovery (which just rebooted my phone i lost nothng but got red flashes around screen that eventually went away).
2. reboot second recovery (some phones have a second recovery and running this command worked but did nothing and i lost nothing.
3. reboot stock recovery..... this one im unsure off and am wondering if it will go straight to wiping the phone clean or......

here is how you get into recovery mode

While phone is off press and hold the volume down+ power button

then touch the back key + home key at the same time repeatedly

you should see an android with a blue loading line under it....plus something in the androids belly lol

I woud like to see if its in fastboot at that time and see if its recognized by fast boot. I really need a test phone =-( I guess if I buy the s3 then I'll have one.

I tried it in download mode but it wasn't recognized by adb at all. Im also very curious if we fash over a bad kernel or whatnot if that sends the phone into fastboot as many other phones do.

That would be factory reset.
 
I would like to help, but I'm not too knowledgeable in recoveries. Like what exactly would we need to have a custom one? Also, does each recovery need to be built specifically for each phone?

I think the process is the same for each phone. I think the only phones that are different in this process is Samsung ones.
 
I have root explorer and the full version what can i do with that to help you guys get recovery....what folders and or files do i need to copy to get u the device's recovery?

I am sure i have missed a lot of people for that i apologize .I am no one special but let me tell you i have a smile ear to ear that there are so many good people on this forum.
