is droid incredible faster?

I don't think it's the phone, I think this all depends entirely where you are and the signal you are getting on Sprint v. Verizon. The people who say the Incredible is faster are just in a location where Verizon is faster. Someone can have an entirely different experience where Sprint is faster. I know this is true 3g v. 4g because I've tested in Chicago where 4g is strong and the difference is very noticeable.

The only to test, maybe, would be on WiFi. These people who are making these declarations -- were they testing over the same WiFii or were they testing over network. Plus, maybe Incredible works better over WiFi.

Don't know the answer but I don't think some of these experiences are necessarily accurate.

When I made the choice to get a new phone my mom offered me to come to Verizon for the Incredible (she sells them) but I was so assured the EVO was the better phone that I couldn't change my mind. We got into debates on which phone was faster and in the end I stuck to it with the EVO.

Now it seems the Incredible might actually be faster but I don't care, the EVO is amazing as is.

Yep, incredible is faster with apps. I have them both and have been constantly testing the evo from day 1.

Prove it. Its got the exact same processor, almost the same software. Do a benchmark test, instead of talking out of your ass. Thinking its faster, doesn't make it actually faster.

Prove it wrong. EVO owner here wife has incredible through work. Incredible faster for sure. I was like you, pissed to hell. She beat me at every thing we compared to.

Not talking about that Im talking just process information, click on messages, scrolling through, fliping screen, etc. But yea on wifi That incredible is incredible when pulling Facebook, messages, the market, etc.. every thing.

Was this test over WiFi or through network?

I'm not the one making bold, untested, unproven statements. Are they running the same Rom, same apps? She use hers as heavy as you do? Don't mislead others with ignorance, educate them with evidence.

I just saw this post and I can tell you guys that for the first time , today, I went to a Sprint store just to see the Evo. The first thing I noticed was that it responded slower than my dic, and when scrolling it, was a kind of flickering.

I have not noticed much of a difference. Inc seems slightly faster, but not enough to get upset about. I still think the reason the 30fps issue is there is that HTC capped the GPU to save juice and this is also why the wifi reception is weaker ranged. The are allowing more watts for the 4G, since it is a power hog.

If LTE is the same power hog as wimax, Verizon can keep it, next year. The speed advantage is not enough to offset for picky-a55 signal and a lot more power drain. Assuming LTE has similar issues, of course.

how cant it display the video right? looks fine to me lol...actually looks damn good imo...

I'm referring to everything being locked down to 30 frames per second, and anything 3-D running choppy. It's because currently, the Evo doesn't have the right graphics drivers.

Seriously if waitng a couple seconds more is a major problem to you then you have issues in life.

Even it the incredible is faster, there is a huge difference in screens and the fact that the Evo runs an extra radio.

Seriously a second or more in your life is not that much valuable when using a smartphone.

It's rather important when you're trying to show off the Evo and it starts to lag. The iPhones and Incredible run smoothly and very fluid like. If I had one phone with no lag vs the same phone with lag, which one would you rather have? Few seconds of waiting in the world of mobile technology is not permissible.

I think it has the drivers HTC intended. People at XDA have tried other snapdragon Android roms on the EVO and still the same problem. If the Nexus rom was used and has drivers that work fine on the Nexus, why not the EVO then? Besides the different phone & data radios- same chipsets.

All roms tried resulted in same 30fps cap. I think the cap is at a lower level that roms can not correct- IMO, of course. It is the only thing that makes some level of sense.

added:

Also if the drivers were bad or wrong, there would not be a set 30fps result and the fps results would be random- this is not, which suggests specific intent.

Read the link I posted above. One of the admins at androidcentral mentions how they underclocked the CPU on the EVO which would explain why the incredible feels faster.
Well apparently you didn't finish reading the postings, cause it was confirmed that the admin corrected his previous statement (which by the way was taken from another source). Both devices are not underclocked. Plus he never showed proof of how he determined that the EVO was underclocked. And it wasn't until someone pointed out the facts did he up to it.

Mis-information such as this is what causes more problems than anything.

Yeah, I see that, it was a post I read when it was first posted there and bookmarked it. Sounded feasible so when I saw this thread seemed to fit. Reading the rest of it now see wasn't true info at all, my bad :)

How about we just get some screenshots of Linpack and Quadrant up??

Im curious to the HTC EVO's results. Only one way to find out.

I have an Incredible. So here are my Linpack and Quadrant screenshots for the HTC Incredible:

What that tells me more than anything, is that Froyo makes a HUGE difference. The Nexus One is twice as fast running it. I think it will likely cure whatever lag problems the EVO may have.

Just ran the full quandrant benchmark on my EVO and got a 508 score, basically shows it right on par with an incredible according to the bar graph.

I think that is low for the Incredible, as most that I have seen are all in the 530 range.

But don't ask me what the difference of 20-30 really means. I dont know if a difference is 20-30 is significant or not.

I installed ADW launcher and am using it instead of sense and the scrolling between home screens is ridiculously smooth and fast now. I know, not really helping with comparing it to an Inc which does run sense, but may be an option for somebody who doesn't like the scrolling speed of the default Evo.

i got a 526 and am showing just above the Incredible on my phone. i'll run it again and see if i get the same results. this time i'll take a pic.

edit: this is what i got with my Evo.
