Root is it impossible to root without downgrading

update

No-Posting Probation
Just wondering if theres a way to root without downgrading im use to samsung devices where if you downgrade you will brick

As of yet no. You have to downgrade the Volt to ZV3 to root.

This will not Brick the phone like Knox will on Samsung Devices

Ok too bad someone didn't know how to build a lg flash tool like odin for lg devices then we could just flash the recovery and root that way.

depends one the version zv3 and zv4 can be rooted zv5 cant.

zv4 can be rooted with srsroot(listed as a supported device and build on their site.)

I just went and looked...LS740 zv4 listed as a tested device. I will add it to the rooting guide and hope we get some feedback.

If anyone tries srsroot, please report success or failure in the rooting guide thread! Thanks!

My friend has a Boost Mobile Volt, ota updated to z5. He's coming over in an hour or so, says I can try it when he gets here. Will update when he makes it over!

keep a eye on the srsroot they try to keep upto date but as with all rooting apps they are only as current as the latest exploits.

They did lock the boot loader. That's primarily the issue.

They slowly start coming with the newer updates. The last one I bought was zv4 and I'm sure they are or will soon be rolling out with zv5

This process rooted my phone in just a couple of minutes and only requires downloading/installing the LG drivers and downloading, extracting the files and running a simple script.

I seriously hope someone is around, because I need help ASAP. I tried the lg one click root, but it didnt work. It pushed the files, but failed to detect the device after rebooting. So I downloaded the script version and ran that. I had to enter download mode manually. The phone entered download mode, but then went to a firmware update screen and nothing else happened. The script says waiting for device. Been that way for about 15 minutes with no change. Scared to unplug it, as it could brick the phone. Someone please help?
