I figured it out finally. I installed the latest lg drivers to my laptop, then rebooted my computer. I connected my device and tried the root program, it didn't work. I then connected my device to my laptop in download mode, let the device install to the laptop in download mode, then rebooted the device and reconnected. Tried the root program again, and this time when it rebooted, the program instructed me to manually enter download mode, and when I did, it recognized the device and completed the rooting process! I'm super stoked to finally have root! I've been waiting months, because I refused to downgrade for root. But now I have it!
