Is it really worth upgrading my nexus 7 to the 2013 model?

What is different about them? I'd like to know, they look exactly alike, have the same screen resolution but beyond that, I got nothing. Oddly, the 2013 is selling here for $299 instead of the forecasted $199 price.
 
I've moved this to the Nexus 7 (2013) forum, my reasoning being that it's likely there are members here who have already made the same move and can therefore answer your question with authority.
 
Just got my 2013 yesterday and have owned the 2012 since last year. My primary reason to upgrade was to go from16GB to 32GB. I like the slimmer 2013 version and the screen really is beautiful though you need to be looking at higher resolution photos, video, or games to really see it (my eyes). The stereo speakers are a significant upgrade. I can now connect the device to a 5GHz wireless. While my 2012 had no performance issues at all, this new device definitely has a snappier feel to it (and boots up faster with the same large app load). I hesitated on upgrading but after using it for 24hrs I am really happy that I did.

Not to mention if you go for a data enabled version, you can now use LTE. It works on T-Mobile and AT&T, and should work on Verizon if they ever stop being a party-pooper/ buzz-kill.
 
Depends if you are the kind of person who needs the newest device. Me, I collect the nexus 7 tablets so that means I refuse to sell the older generation.
The older generation is still a pretty powerful device. But the new one is more powerful, better resolution, and so much thinner and lighter. It feels so nice.
If you need more space on your tablet, then I would recommend getting the new one.
 
It's better, but if my 2012 Nexus 7 were still operational, I probably wouldn't have bought the flo. Kid dropped, tripped over, then stepped on the screen.... so, a diy screen replacement or new model, I went with the new model.
 
I upgraded for the LTE version. I would still use my 2012 model if it had LTE.. When I bought it last year I did not know how much I would use it, now I am using it daily and it goes with me most of the time.. When I am out on the weekends running I use my phone but due to the nature of my job the LTE tablet is handy and I prefer it for some things over my phone ( although I just upgraded my phone too.. LOL)
