Root Is it safe to OTA from Apex 1.4.1?!

So I just thought it would be fun to check to see if an update was available on my rooted DX running Apex 1.4.1, and lo-and-behold, it says an update is now available!! Question is is it safe to OTA? I've been reading brick stories and I'm kind of scared! To be honest, I don't care for root anymore, so if I can OTA safely and get 2.3 I will be a happy man :)
 
No, you won't be able to install the ota because apex removes blur and bloat. So you'll have to sbf back to stock 340, then root. Feel free to ask if you need help. :)

BTW, why is root required once back to stock? Can't you just OTA like normal?
 
all you need to do is SBF back to stock, and once your done loading all your apps, do a system update check, and you will begin downloading the update
